Joe Montana Calls Dan Marino The Greatest QB In NFL History

Aug 31, 2023 7:02 AM

Joe Montana has offered his opinion on who he thinks is the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

Montana didn't name himself, or even Tom Brady, but rather longtime Miami Dolphins signal-caller Dan Marino.

"Put Marino into today's game where he gets free release ... and his receivers, holy cow, weren't very big," Montana told Men’s Health. "Now these guys are 6'4," 6'5." I think [Marino] is probably one of the most unsung heroes of the game. People don't talk enough about him or realize the numbers that he put up during the times that he put them up."

In Marino's greatest season, 1984, he passed for 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns. Montana says Marino could throw the football in a way that other quarterbacks couldn't.

"He had a quick release. I had to step into a lot of things to get enough [force] on the ball," Montana said of Marino. "He had the perfect torque of his upper body and strength to deliver the ball quickly at a fast release with accuracy."

Colts Asked For Jaylen Waddle In Jonathan Taylor Talks With Dolphins

Aug 31, 2023 6:56 AM

The Indianapolis Colts discussed Jonathan Taylor with multiple teams before this week's soft deadline to trade the running back.

Reports immediately surfaced that the Colts were seeking a significant haul for Taylor, notably a first-round pick. Now a Miami Herald report states that Indianapolis wanted wide receiver Jaylen Waddle "and more" from the Dolphins in exchange for Taylor.

Waddle was the sixth overall pick in 2021. The Colts placed Taylor on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday, immediately lowering his trade value.

The Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers were two teams with legitimate interest in trading for Jonathan Taylor.

The Indianapolis Colts entertained offers on Taylor up until their self-imposed deadline of Tuesday.

There is still interest in Taylor from other teams, but he will miss the first four games of the season on the PUP list.

The Packers have three running backs on their initial 53-man roster: veterans Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon along with undrafted rookie Emanuel Wilson.

Dolphins Rookie De'Von Achane Avoids 'Severe' Shoulder Injury

Aug 22, 2023 8:34 AM

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane is considered "week-to-week" after leaving Saturday's preseason win over the Houston Texans with a shoulder injury.

Mike McDaniel said Achane avoided "anything severe" with the injury.

It has yet to be determined whether the shoulder injury will keep him out of the team's regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 10.

Miami used a third-round pick to draft Achane this spring.

Tyreek Hill Plays Madden To Scout Opponents

Aug 18, 2023 8:19 AM

Tyreek Hill says he uses Madden to help scout opponents ahead of games.

"I feel like Madden has a good tell of how good players are," Hill said of the video game. "I just play Madden the night before and I go look at all their ratings. Let's say, for instance, they have Steven Nelson and Derek Stingley Jr. [of the Texans] over there. Two phenomenal players by the way. I just get on Madden, I go to the EA rosters and then I scroll down to see what their awareness is, their speed is and their strength and that's how I get a good tell on them."

Hill is coming off a career-best season in which he posted 119 catches, 1,710 yards and six touchdowns in his first year with the Miami Dolphins.
