Ryan Fitzpatrick Misses Scrimmage After Death Of Mother

Aug 29, 2020 3:05 PM

Ryan Fitzpatrick missed Saturday's scrimmage after the passing of his mother.

Fitzpatrick went out to stretch with the intention of playing, but as they broke to begin individual drills, Brian Flores approached Fitzpatrick.

Flores and Fitzpatrick appeared to have an emotional conversation.

When the coach returned, he did so without Fitzpatrick.

"Fitz has tried to work through this. He's always wanted to practice. He tried to go out there today," Flores said. "... It's a tough situation. Our hearts go out to him as a team. He's a competitive guy. He tried to go out there. But some things are more important than football."

NFL's 32 Teams Collectively Worth $99 Billion

Aug 26, 2020 1:29 PM

The average NFL franchise is worth more than $3 billion, according to data compiled by Sportico.

The Dallas Cowboys rank first in the NFL at $6.43 billion with the Cincinnati Bengals ranking last at $2.12 billion.

The fair-market value of the NFL's 32 franchises collectively is $99 billion when considering team-related businesses and real estate held by owners.

The teams’ $15.83 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, which represents the 2019 season, was greater than that of 298 companies on the Fortune 500. That averages to about $495 million per team.

In 2019, the Cowboys generated an estimated $871 million in revenue, which was 81% greater than the average of the other 31 teams.

Josh Rosen Focused On Improvement, Not Starting Job

Aug 26, 2020 9:28 AM

Josh Rosen is focused on improving with the Miami Dolphins and not whether he can enter the conversation for the starting quarterback job.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the incumbent and Miami drafted Tua Tagovailoa in the spring. Rosen was a first-round pick in 2018.

"Maybe my mindset will change in some point in the future but I'm not really focused as much on winning a job as I am just getting better," Rosen said. "... I was drafted in the first round, and I think people around the league still think I can play to a certain extent. Whenever that opportunity comes, wherever it comes, I just want to be prepared for it. Because they're few and far between. I didn't do great with the two I already had. Not many people get third chances. I'm definitely going to seize the opportunity when it comes."

This time last year, the Dolphins acquired Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals for a 2019 second-round pick and 2020 fifth-round pick.
