Dolphins Sign Adam Shaheen To Two-Year Extension

Oct 28, 2020 8:50 AM

The Miami Dolphins are signing Adam Shaheen to a two-year extension worth up to $7.85 million with $3.2 million guaranteed, according to a source.

Miami acquired the tight end from the Chicago Bears in late July for a conditional 2021 seventh-round pick.

Shaheen, a 2017 second-round pick, was entering the final year of his rookie deal. He has caught a touchdown in each of his last two games.

Ryan Fitzpatrick's 'Heart Just Hurt All Day' After Demotion

Oct 21, 2020 4:08 PM

Ryan Fitzpatrick said the timing of the move for the Miami Dolphins to start Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback instead of him was heartbreaking.

Brian Flores told Fitzpatrick face-to-face in his office Tuesday morning.

"I was shocked by it. It definitely caught me off guard. It was a hard thing for me to hear yesterday, just kind of digesting the news. My heart just hurt all day. It was heartbreaking for me," Fitzpatrick said. "Flo kind of said what he said and said what he said to you guys as well, and that's the decision and the direction that the organization is going in."

Fitzpatrick had a 79.6 QBR that ranks seventh in the NFL.

"There was a lot of stuff going through my mind yesterday, just from a personal standpoint, not necessarily with the team. Is this it? Like, was that my last game as an NFL player in terms of being the starter and going out there and playing," Fitzpatrick said. "I've been a starter, I've been benched all kinds of different ways, but this one just really more so than any of them ... this organization and what we've been through the last year and a half, this was kind of the first place other than Buffalo where I just felt fully committed and invested and felt like it was my team. To have that, I think that's a lot of the reason why I just ... my heart was so heavy yesterday. But that's the direction that the organization and I've just got to accept it."

Oct 20, 2020 3:14 PM

The Miami Dolphins will start Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback beginning in Week 8 after their bye.

Tagovailoa's first NFL start will come 351 days after he suffered a dislocated right hip and posterior wall fracture.

Ryan Fitzpatrick had been playing well, leading the Dolphins to two consecutive wins by a combined score of 67-17. He also has the seventh-best QBR (79.6) in the NFL.

Tagovailoa played for the first time at the end of the Dolphins' blowout win over the New York Jets.

Dolphins To Start Ryan Fitzpatrick In Week 5

Oct 7, 2020 9:21 AM

The Miami Dolphins have decided that Ryan Fitzpatrick will start in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Brian Flores said earlier in the week that he wouldn't be pressured into starting Tua Tagovailoa.

Fitzpatrick, 37, has produced a 69% completion rate, six total touchdowns and five interceptions so far.

The fifth overall pick, Tagovailoa, has been active for every game as the No. 2 quarterback but hasn't played a snap.
