With Taylor?s Knee Worse Than Expected, Jags May Pursue RB Henry

Oct 28, 2014 9:20 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have expressed interest in Buffalo Bills running back Travis Henry to fill in for their injured star Fred Taylor should Taylor?s rehabilitation not go as planned. Taylor?s knee injury, suffered Dec. 19, is worse than originally thought and has slowed his rehabilitation. Taylor will start extensive cutting in the Jaguars workouts in the coming weeks to see just where he stands. "Now we will see what Fred's status truly is," Jags coach Jack Del Rio told the Florida Times Union.

Expect Taylor Back By July Camp; Injury More Serious Than Jag?s Let On

Nov 14, 2014 3:55 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Fred Taylor is confident he will be recovered sometime next month. Taylor did reveal that his left knee injury was a bit more serious than he originally let on. "It was a lot worse than initially thought," Taylor, the centerpiece of the Jags' offense, said during a radio interview Thursday with WZNZ. "How that came about, I don't know, but it definitely was [worse]. They kept that under wraps. I had an MCL (medial collateral ligament) and PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) tear. The thing that I heard was that it was the severity of an ACL -- not as bad, but just below it, because of the combination of the two. "And that's what people fail to understand. Every time they saw me, they were thinking, 'Why are you still on crutches? Why aren't you walking correctly now?' But that was only three weeks out of my surgery, and I had a full-cut surgery, instead of a 'scope.' Everybody thought I had [arthroscopic surgery], but it was worse than that."

Eddie Johnson Signed By Jacksonville

Nov 14, 2014 3:55 AM

Free-agent punter Eddie Johnson, a former Vikings draft choice, was signed by the Jaguars. The Jags also released punter David Brader, who signed as a free agent last month. Johnson, 24, will compete with incumbent punter Chris Hanson in training camp. In 2003, Johnson averaged 39.1 yards gross and 33.2 yards net for the Vikings on 56 punts. The Vikings selected the former Idaho State standout in the sixth round of the '03 draft but released him the following spring. Johnson did not play in the league in 2004. He signed with the Giants as a free agent in January but was waived two months later.
