Leftwich Breaks Left Ankle

Nov 19, 2014 7:11 AM

Jacksonville quarterback Byron Leftwich broke his left ankle on the Jaguars' first offensive play against Arizona on Sunday and will be sidelined at least four weeks. Leftwich was hurt when he was sacked by a group of Arizona players, a sack that was nullified by a penalty against the Cardinals. He stayed in the game for four more plays, then left for the game, won by the Jaguars 24-17 behind backup quarterback David Garrard. "The best-case scenario is about a month out, depending on how quickly he heals, and it could be worse. We just won't know until we see how the injury heals," coach Jack Del Rio said after the game.

Taylor Could Be Held Out Against Arizona

Nov 17, 2014 1:31 PM

Fred Taylor was added to the Jaguars' injury report as probable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals and he could be held out of the game entirely by head coach Jack Del Rio despite practicing all of this week, the Florida Union-Times reports. Del Rio admits that Taylor is not hurt, but he is instead concerned about his running back's conditioning and timing being off because of the fact that he hasn't practiced regularly over the past month.

Taylor Out For Sunday's Game Against Baltimore

Aug 9, 2014 8:20 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor will not play Sunday against Baltimore because of an injury to his right ankle. He had been listed as doubtful on this week's injury report, but was ruled out after practice Friday. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio wouldn't say who will start against the Ravens. But Del Rio said backup running back LaBrandon Toefield, who was inactive in three of the team's last four games, would be in uniform. Greg Jones started for Taylor against Pittsburgh last month and gained a career-best 77 yards on 18 carries. Taylor, the team's career leader in most rushing categories, has gained 614 yards in seven games this season. "We're going to keep him out this week, then hopefully get him back as quick as we can," Del Rio said. "This is not a season-ending injury by any means."

Taylor Hurt Again

Nov 17, 2014 1:38 PM

Jaguars running back Fred Taylor left the team's game against Houston with a sprained right ankle. Taylor turned his ankle on a 5-yard run early in the third quarter, tried to walk off the field, but fell to the ground in pain. He eventually walked off, and his return was questionable. Taylor initially injured the ankle Oct. 9 against Cincinnati. He missed the following game against Pittsburgh, then returned after a bye week and ran for a season-high 165 yards and a touchdown at St. Louis. He had 12 carries for 48 yards against the Texans before the injury. He also caught two passes for 15 yards.
