Jim Irsay: Reports Of Marlon Mack Extension Were 'Misreports'

Feb 25, 2020 8:31 AM

The Indianapolis Colts are not negotiating a contract extension for Marlon Mack.

Jim Irsay said the team hasn't engaged in talks with Mack, who has one year left on his contract.

"Marlon Mack, we love him. ... We want him back, and he wants to be back, really," the owner said. "There were some misreports that we were pursuing an extension there. That's not the case."

Those "misreports," however, came directly after Chris Ballard listed Mack among the "guys we want to extend."

Melvin Gordon Believes Philip Rivers Will Sign With Colts

Feb 17, 2020 10:11 PM

Melvin Gordon, a teammate of Philip Rivers for the last five seasons, believes the quarterback will sign with the Indianapolis Colts this offseason.

"I think he goes to the Colts," Gordon said. "I don't know, that's just my thought."

The running back is also set to become a free agent.

Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni previously worked as a Chargers assistant for five years.

"He has [connections]," Gordon said. "Nick ... he came from here, we had him, and he's the offensive coordinator there. They run the same playbook, so it'd be easy, he could come right in and he could be telling guys what to do, he knows what's going on already."

Colts Working On Extension For Marlon Mack

Feb 4, 2020 9:06 AM

The Indianapolis Colts are working on a potential contract extension for Marlon Mack.

Mack, 23, is coming off a 1,091-yard season and is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

"Part of our offseason evaluation [is] — we know, we're going to try to take care of our own — so who are guys that we want to extend?" Chris Ballard said after the season, mentioning center Ryan Kelly and Mack. "Marlon, look, he easily could have missed more games [with a broken hand], but he didn't. He fought to get back in because he wanted to play."

The Colts used a fourth-round pick on Mack in 2017.
