Colts Sign Franchised Clark To Six-Year Deal

The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms on a six-year contract with recently-franchised tight end Dallas Clark, according to the Associated Press. Colts' President Bill Polian expects that the deal will keep Clark in Indianapolis for the rest of his career. "Mr. Polian and I had engaged in ongoing conversations since the fall with the intent desire to keep Dallas with the Colts till the end of his career," Neil Cornrich, Clark's agent told the AP. "It's been close for quite a while, and we just refined it."

With the two sides unable to come to terms on a contract, the Indianapolis Colts have placed the franchise tag on tight end Dallas Clark, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. Clark will make $4.5 million next season unless another team decides to try and sign him. However, any potential suitor would have to surrender two first-round draft picks for the rights to the tight end.

The Indianapolis Colts will likely be without several players when the team opens training camp this summer, according to the Associated Press. Team President Bill Polian said on Thursday that he doesn't expect to see Marvin Harrison, Dwight Freeney, or Bob Sanders on the field when the team begins camp in July. "There's no reason to push them," Polian said. "We want them to be ready at the start of the season."

The Hall of Fame announced Sunday that the Redskins and Colts will meet in the annual exhibition game at Canton, Ohio. The game is played the day following the hall's induction ceremony.

Indianapolis Colts' safety Bob Sanders had arthroscopic shoulder surgery for the second straight year on Thursday, according to ESPN. He had the procedure to clean out debris in the joint. "It was pretty dinged up, but I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible so that I had time to heal and get ready for the [offseason] work," Sanders said. "It was something that, if we were still playing, could have waited. But now, with the season over, it was like, 'OK, let's get this done.' There was no sense waiting."
