Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy did his team a big favor this year when he moved weigh-in day from Friday to Thursday. The decision to move the weigh-in day allowed his team to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner without needing to worry about their weight on the following day.

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre isn't worried about his shoulder as he focuses on beating the Packers. Favre says his shoulder feels "OK" and that he's not "overly concerned" about it. He insists he's not thinking about facing his old team and just wants to win, regardless of the opponent.

The Packers plan to release veteran Al Harris on Monday, according to the cornerback. Harris told ESPN 540 in Milwaukee of Green Bay's plans. He began practicing three weeks ago Monday, which is the deadline for the Packers to make a decision on his status for the season. Harris is on the physically unable to perform list with a knee injury.

The Packers have activated safety Atari Bigby from the physically unable to perform list, making him available to play in Sunday night's game against Dallas. Bigby has been sidelined since having ankle surgery at the beginning of training camp. Cornerback Al Harris remains on the physically unable to perform list.

Jermichael Finley had to receive a second surgery on his knee because of a staph infection. "It's the exact same infection that Tom Brady had," Finley said. "I was running that 105 fever for a good 12, 15 hours. I think I survived it because we caught it so fast." Finley's second surgery was first reported by ESPNMilwaukee.com Tuesday night. Finley said Wednesday that he was fine but that the ordeal was very scary. "I had this infection 10 times worse when I was in high school," Finley said. "To tell you the truth, they almost had to cut my dang leg off because my leg, my knee, had swelled up to like a volleyball."

The Packers blanked the Jets, the Patriots knocked down Brett Favre and the Vikings and the Lions got their second win of the season. Miami 22, Cincinnati 14 Trench Counter: Dolphins +3.1, Bengals -3.1 The Miami Dolphins (4-3) shut out the Cincinnati Bengals (2-5) in the second half en route to a win at Paul Brown Stadium. Chad Henne went 24-for-37 with 217 yards and an interception, as Miami excelled on the ground. Ronnie Brown (61 yards), Ricky Williams (47 yards and a touchdown) and Brian Hartline (30 yards) all contributed to the Dolphins? rushing attack. Dan Carpenter kicked five successful field goals. Carson Palmer struggled, going 17-for-38 with 156 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Cedric Benson helped with 69 yards and Bernard Scott added 22 yards on just two carries. Terrell Owens hauled in both of Palmer?s touchdowns, catching five passes for 65 yards. Jacksonville 35, Dallas 17 Trench Counter: Jaguars +15.4, Cowboys -15.4 Jon Kitna threw four interceptions as the Dallas Cowboys (1-6) fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-4) on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, David Garrard had the game of his career going 17-for-21 with 240 yards and four touchdowns, while also running in for another score. Maurice Jones-Drew exploded as well, rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries. Jacksonville?s Mike Sims-Walker had a great day too as he caught eight passes for 153 yards and a score. Kitna totaled 379 yards and did throw one touchdown pass, but his four turnovers doomed Dallas. Miles Austin (seven catches for 117 yards), Jason Witten (97 yards and a touchdown) and Dez Bryant (seven receptions for 84 yards) reaped the rewards of Kitna?s high yardage total. Detroit 37, Washington 25 Trench Counter: Lions +2.4, Redskins -2.4 The Detroit Lions (2-5) topped the Washington Redskins (4-4) in one of the stranger games in Week 8. Matt Stafford had 212 yards, four touchdowns and an interception as the Lions scored 30 points in the second half. Calvin Johnson was Stafford?s main target, catching nine passes for 101 yards and three trips to the end zone. Rookie Ndamukong Suh had a memorable afternoon with two sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Donovan McNabb went 17-for-30 with 210 yards, a touchdown and an interception before Mike Shanahan replaced him with Rex Grossman on the team?s final two offensive possessions. Keiland Williams led the Redskins in rushing with six carries for 25 yards and a score. Anthony Armstrong continues to emerge as a significant threat after catching three passes for 92 yards. Kansas City 13, Buffalo 10 (OT) Trench Counter: Chiefs +8.1, Bills -8.1 The Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) remained hot with an overtime win over the hapless Buffalo Bills (0-7) at Arrowhead Stadium. Matt Cassel had just 152 yards and one touchdown, but his defense saved the day and Jamaal Charles rushed for 177 yards (Thomas Jones added 77 yards) against the Bills. Ryan Fitzpatrick was mediocre, going 24-for-48 with 223 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Fred Jackson led Buffalo in rushing with 20 carries for 64 yards. The winless Bills will face off against the Bears in Toronto next weekend as they look for their first victory of 2010. Green Bay 9, N.Y. Jets 0 Trench Counter: Packers +5.1, Jets -5.1 The Green Bay Packers (5-3) shut out the New York Jets (5-2) at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a defensive battle. Aaron Rodgers had just 170 passing yards, with 81 of those yards going to Greg Jennings via six receptions. Brandon Jackson rushed for 55 yards on 15 carries for the Packers, who needed just three Mason Crosby field goals to win. Mark Sanchez went 16-for-38 with 256 yards and two interceptions. Nick Folk missed a field goal that could have at least gotten New York on the board. LaDainian Tomlinson passed the 13,000-yard mark for his career in the game as he tallied 54 yards on 16 touches. The two teams combined to punt 13 times. San Francisco 24, Denver 16 Trench Counter: 49ers +4.7, Broncos ? 4.7 The San Francisco 49ers (2-6) beat the Denver Broncos (2-6) in London in a game that may have saved coach Mike Singletary?s job for the time being. Troy Smith threw for 196 yards and a touchdown as Frank Gore carved up Denver?s defense with 118 yards and a score of his own. Michael Crabtree had three catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Orton went 28-for-40 with 369 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Brandon Lloyd was Orton?s top target, catching seven passes for 169 yards and a score. Tim Tebow scored the second touchdown on his career with a one-yard run in the third quarter. St. Louis 20, Carolina 10 Trench Counter: Rams +10.2, Panthers ? 10.2 Sam Bradford was solid as the St. Louis Rams (4-4) defeated the Carolina Panthers (1-6) on Sunday afternoon. Bradford had 191 yards and two touchdowns, while Steven Jackson played through injury with 23 carries for 59 yards. St. Louis sacked Carolina?s Matt Moore three times and intercepted him thrice as well. Moore went 23-for-37 with 194 yards, a touchdown and the three aforementioned interceptions. With DeAngelo Williams out due to injury, Jonathan Stewart started and tallied just 30 yards on 14 attempts. Steve Smith starred for the Panthers with nine receptions for 85 yards in the loss. San Diego 33, Tennessee 25 Trench Counter: Chargers -2.7, Titans +2.7 The San Diego Chargers (3-5) ended a rough skid with a victory over the Tennessee Titans (5-3) at Qualcomm Stadium. Philip Rivers went 27-for-36 with 305 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Mike Tolbert (63 yards and a touchdown), Ryan Mathews (43 yards and a score) and Darren Sproles (41 yards) combined to help the Chargers use a balanced attack. Antonio Gates had another huge day, catching five passes for 123 yards and a score. Vince Young had 253 yards and two touchdowns before leaving with an injury for the second time in three weeks. Chris Johnson had a moderate day with 15 carries for 59 yards and a score. Nate Washington led the Titans in receiving with four catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. Tampa Bay 38, Arizona 35 Trench Counter: Buccaneers +3.7, Cardinals -3.7 LeGarrette Blount scored a touchdown with 5:13 left in regulation to give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2) a win over the Arizona Cardinals (3-4). Josh Freeman had 278 yards and a touchdown, while the Buccaneers excelled on the ground. Blount finished with 120 yards and two scores, while Freeman scrambled twice for 22 yards. New England 28, Minnesota 18 Trench Counter: Patriots +1.6, Vikings -1.6 The New England Patriots (6-1) knocked Brett Favre out in the fourth quarter and put the finishing touches on a victory against the Minnesota Vikings (2-5) on Halloween. Tom Brady had 240 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 65-yard connection with Ben Tate in the third quarter. BenJarvus Green-Ellis starred for New England, rushing 17 times for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Favre left the game with 259 yards on an interception on 22-for-32 passing. Tarvaris Jackson was 4-for-6 with 36 yards and a touchdown in relief. Adrian Peterson was strong in the first half and finished with 92 yards and a score on 25 attempts. Percy Harvin led Minnesota with six receptions for 104 yards. Oakland 33, Seattle 3 Trench Counter: Raiders +24.1, Seahawks -24.1 The Oakland Raiders (4-4) earned their first winning streak since 2008 with a win over the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) on Sunday. Jason Campbell had 310 yards and two touchdowns, while Darren McFadden tallied 135 total yards. Darrius Heyward-Bey led Oakland with five catches for 105 yards and score. Oakland sacked Matt Hasselbeck eight times. Hasselbeck had 160 yards and an interception in the loss. Leon Washington (29 yards), Marshawn Lynch (seven yards) and Justin Forsett (11 yards) struggled on a combined 19 carries. John Carlson was Seattle?s top receiver with three catches for 47 yards. New Orleans 20, Pittsburgh 10 Trench Counter: Saints +3.3, Steelers -3.3 The New Orleans Saints (5-3) won a dogfight against the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) on Sunday night at the Superdome. Drew Brees went 34-for-44 with 305 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. New Orleans simply couldn?t run the ball (32 yards on 18 carries), but their defense picked up the slack. Brees completed three or more passes for seven different receivers. Ben Roethlisberger went 17-for-28 with 195 yards and an interception. Rashard Mendenhall led Pittsburgh?s defense with 15 attempts for 71 yards and a touchdown. Jeff Reed missed a key field goal that gave New Orleans good field position and Heath Miller fumbled in the second half on a costly play.
