Lions Receive Solid Week 1 Play From Secondary

Sep 13, 2014 7:47 PM

The Detroit Lions had four players in their secondary in Week 1 with no regular season experience playing together.

Safety Louis Delmas and cornerback Chris Houston were sidelined in the game.

The Lions held Sam Bradford to 198 yards passing and one touchdown.

"I think a lot of that went beyond just those four guys," Jim Schwartz said. "It was our linebackers and our d-line. Our d-line did a good job rushing, particularly inside. Corey Williams, Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley, Sammie Hill, all those guys made contributions inside.

"I think it was a team effort when it came to that, but guys like Jacob Lacey came in; Bill Bentley played really well until he left the game; (John) Wendling and (Erik) Coleman, two veteran players, did a really nice job."

The secondary has been an issue of concern for the Lions.
