The Detroit Lions had issues in their secondary coverage last season and are now battling injuries to Louis Delmas and Chris Houston ahead of Week 1.

"It is what it is," Schwartz said. "We'll get through and get those guys back on the field as soon as we can. When we do, they'll be ready. If they're not, we have other guys that get paid to play also, so we'll be fine."

"The front (four) is the great equalizer for Detroit," Rams quarterback Sam Bradford said. "No matter what they have in the back end, and they have some good players too even though they are starting a rookie (Bill Bentley), their front is really good.

"They're going to challenge us all day, so we've got to be prepared to face that. And if we are able to take shots, we've got to take advantage."

The Lions may have four new starters in the secondary in Week 1 of 2012 compared to 2011.
