Suh Preaching 'Accountability' For Lions
The Lions have seen four players get arrested a total of six times over the last six months, along with Titus Young's sucker punch of Louis Delmas during OTAs.
Detroit made their first playoff appearance since 1999 last season, but the off-field issues have muddied their reputation.
Ndamukong Suh, who has drawn negative attention to the Lions in his own way over the years, is calling for the team to hold each other accountable.
"Everybody has to be accountable for themselves, and obviously we as teammates need to hold each other to a higher standard," Suh said.
"And that's being addressed, and some of our teammates will have to deal with repercussions from the league, and I think they'll handle that the right way and move forward and not let it truly affect us during the season."
Report: Corey Williams Faces DWI
Lions defensive tackle Corey Williams was in court Wednesday to face a DWI charge, according to a report.
Williams was pulled over around 11:30 p.m. on June 18, 2011, by Arkansas police for crossing the center line.
"Corey did not report this incident to us when it happened due to the prohibition of contact during last year's work stoppage," the Lions said in a statement published by the Detroit Free-Press.
"We are aware of today's reports. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have further comment when appropriate."
Detroit's Avril Doesn't Plan On Reporting To Camp
Cliff Avril says he does not plan to report when Detroit opens training camp next week.
The Lions tagged Avril as their franchise player in March, but the sides could not come to terms on a long-term deal before Monday's deadline.
If Avril, who has yet to sign the franchise tender, chooses to play this season, it must be under a one-year, $10.6 million contract.
Three Franchised Players Remain Unsigned
The deadline for franchised players to sign multiyear contracts has passed and three of those players remain unsigned.
Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, Lions defensive end Cliff Avril and 49ers safety Dashon Goldson haven't signed their franchise tenders.
The trio are all expected to sign their one-year franchise tenders eventually, but all of them may decide to take their time, possibly skipping training camp and waiting until just before the start of the regular season.
Six more franchise players have signed their one-year tender offers and will play out the 2012 season for the franchise salary: Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes, Patriots receiver Wes Welker, Redskins tight end Fred Davis, Bengals kicker Mike Nugent, Browns kicker Phil Dawson and Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer.
Avril Not Angry Over Failed Contract Talks
Cliff Avril isn't angry at the Lions after both sides ended negotiations on a multiyear contract.
"I'm not mad," he said. "Business is business. You can't take it personal."
Avril will stay in Detroit as a franchise-tagged defensive end for at least one more season with a $10.6 million contract.
Young Wants Role In Detroit's Return Game
Already Detroit's No. 3 wide receiver, Titus Young is looking to challenge Stefan Logan for the return specialist role.
Restructures Could Mean Earlier Deal For Stafford
Matthew Stafford will carry cap numbers of $20 million in 2013 and $19 million in 2014.
Avril 'Not Getting Good Vibe' About Contract
Lions defensive end Cliff Avril is among a group of players facing Monday's deadline to sign a multiyear contract extension.
Suh Eager To Take On Expanded Role
