Joe Burrow Returns To Practice For First Time Since July 27th

Aug 30, 2023 5:45 PM

Joe Burrow has returned to practice for the first time since injuring his right calf on  July 27th.

During the session that was open to the media, Burrow participated in all the throwing drills with assistant Dan Pitcher and the team's backups.

This is not the first time Burrow has had to deal with an issue leading up to Week 1. In 2021, he was coming off a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee that ended his rookie season. Last year, Burrow suffered a ruptured appendix just before training camp started.

Zac Taylor: Contract Not Why Joe Burrow Isn't Practicing

Aug 30, 2023 9:48 AM

An issue in contract negotiations is not why Joe Burrow is not practicing with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Taylor quickly and firmly denied that Burrow's absence is related to the inability between the quarterback's side and the Bengals to reach a contract extension.

Burrow has not participated in practice since he suffered a strained right calf on the second day of preseason workouts.

Throughout Burrow's contract negotiations and injury recovery, the Bengals have remained tight-lipped about where things stand.

Bengals Give Encouraging Update On Joe Burrow

Aug 22, 2023 8:37 AM

Joe Burrow remains sidelined with a calf injury, but the Cincinnati Bengals have provided a promising update regarding their franchise quarterback.

Burrow suffered the injury in the early days of training camp and Zac Taylor declared him out for "several weeks."

While speaking to reporters on Monday, Taylor didn't say when Burrow would be back on the field but noted that he looks as good as he's ever seen him.

"He looks great. Physically just walking around, he looks probably as good as he's ever looked at this point," Taylor said. "That's a positive and we'll just go from there."

The Bengals will open the season on Sept. 10 against the Cleveland Browns.

Joe Mixon Declines To Discuss Legal Case; Shuns Some Outlets

Aug 21, 2023 7:45 AM

Joe Mixon declined to speak to reporters in his first practice after he was found not guilty in an aggravated menacing case.

The Cincinnati Bengals running back also announced he would be boycotting questions from specific reporters who represent the following outlets: Sports Illustrated, The Cincinnati Enquirer, Pro Football Network and ESPN.

"It's not happening," Mixon said, citing behavior he deemed disrespectful.

In April, Mixon was charged with misdemeanor aggravated menacing after police claim he pointed a gun at a woman and said he should shoot her. Last week, Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Gwen Bender ruled Mixon not guilty.

He is also facing a lawsuit after a teenager who was formerly his next-door neighbor was shot in the foot while playing with Nerf guns. Mixon was not a suspect in the criminal investigation. Others have been charged, including one individual with a count of felony assault.

Joe Mixon Facing Civil Suit Regarding Neighbor's Incident

Aug 5, 2023 2:16 PM

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon is facing a civil lawsuit regarding the shooting of his teenage neighbor. According to court records filed in Hamilton County earlier this week, the teenage boy's family is seeking damages from Mixon and Lamonte Brewer after the boy was shot in the right foot by Brewer while standing in Mixon's backyard.

Mixon was not charged and never considered a suspect, Hamilton County prosecutor Melissa Powers said in March when Brewer was charged. However, in the lawsuit filed on Thursday, the family claims that Mixon supplied the bullets and Zavasta M92 gun that was matched to the weapon used in the shooting.

Joe Mixon: 'Sacrifice' Led To Restructured Contract With Bengals

Aug 2, 2023 11:51 PM

Joe Mixon and the Cincinnati Bengals restructured his deal in July.

According to Roster Management System, his new cash value of $5.8 million is nearly a $3 million decrease from his cash value in 2022.

"I see the task at hand and what we're trying to build and in order to keep other players here and pieces here, sometimes you have to sacrifice," Mixon told the team's website in an article published Wednesday. "I felt like this year was the year to sacrifice on the Super Bowl team we can potentially be."
