Miles Sanders: 'Almost Every Running Back Is Underpaid Right Now'

Jun 30, 2023 10:30 AM

Miles Sanders is the latest running back to criticize the market for the position.

Sanders signed a four-year, $25.4 million deal with the Carolina Panthers this offseason. He received $13 million guaranteed, but the $6.35 million average per year is far less than in past years.

"It's nothing that we're doing wrong," Sanders said. "We're doing everything that we have to do as far as on the field and stuff like that. For people and GMs or owners to think that running backs are not as valued as much is a lie because you've got to see how everything plays out. You've got to see what guys like Christian McCaffrey, the stuff he does, things that Saquon Barkley (does), the things that Josh Jacobs (does) consistently each year. ...

"You want to franchise tag and create a certain market for running backs just because you have this way of thinking that they only last three or four years. I think it's B.S., honestly. Almost every running back is underpaid right now. I don't know what it's gonna take. That's a topic that needs to be brought up a little more because it sucks to be a running back right now, honestly."

Miles Sanders Expresses Frustration With Usage In Super Bowl

Jun 12, 2023 9:47 AM

Miles Sanders posted career-highs across the board for the Philadelphia Eagles last season, but his numbers tailed off during the playoffs.

After averaging 74.6 rushing yards per game in the regular season, Sanders averaged 49.3 rushing yards in the postseason.

In the Eagles' Super Bowl LVII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Sanders had just 16 yards on seven carries and a fumble. He played just 35 percent of offensive snap in the game.

"Last game of the season? For all of the marbles? Everybody can answer that question," Sanders said at OTAs this week when asked if he was disappointed by how he was used in the Super Bowl. "If they put themselves in my shoes, would they be happy? I don't want to make headlines, (but) if it does, I don't care."

Sanders signed a four-year, $25 million deal with the Carolina Panthers this offseason.

Panthers Elevate Bryce Young To QB1

Jun 9, 2023 8:47 AM

The Carolina Panthers have promoted Bryce Young to the No. 1 quarterback spot, a move Frank Reich said is "the next step" in the top pick of this year's draft becoming the Week 1 starter.

While Young had gotten more reps than Andy Dalton with the first team during the first two weeks of voluntary offseason workouts, Dalton was listed as the starter and began each drill with the first unit.

That changed this week.

"It's just the next step," Reich said. "We had a couple of weeks to watch Andy. Andy has continued to perform at a very high level. We're just trying to get our team ready. Everything is about what's best for our team, and so this was just the next step."
