The Steelers have signed linebacker Lawrence Timmons to a five-year, $50 million contract extension, according to a source. Earlier this offseason, Pittsburgh signed fellow linebacker LaMarr Woodley to a six-year, $61.5 million deal. Timmons, a five-year veteran, had three sacks and two interceptions last season.
Giants Will Sign DT Jimmy Kennedy
The Giants are close to signing veteran defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy, according to a source. Kennedy, a Yonkers native, was the No. 12 overall pick by the Rams in the 2003 NFL Draft. The Penn State product has played on five teams, most recently the Vikings from 2008-2010. Minnesota released Kennedy last month.
Eagles Re-Sign Reggie Wells
The Eagles have re-signed veteran offensive lineman Reggie Wells. Wells played in eight games for Philadelphia last year, starting one at left guard -- the regular-season finale against the Cowboys.

He is expected to compete with rookie Colin Kaepernick for the No. 2 spot behind presumed starter Alex Smith, according to an Associated Press report.

The Falcons have signed tight end Reggie Kelly. Atlanta originally drafted Kelly in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft. The Falcons are thin at tight end after Justin Peelle suffered a knee injury against Miami. The extent of Peelle’s injujry has not be fully disclosed. Kelly last played for the Falcons in 2002.
