Five Iowa Players Out Of Hospital
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said Friday that five of the 13 players hospitalized this week with a muscle disorder following grueling offseason workouts are being discharged.
Ferentz added in a statement that he's looking forward to the release of the eight remaining players "in the days ahead."
The coach hasn't spoken to reporters since the school announced Tuesday that the players had been hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis, a stress-induced syndrome that can damage cells and cause kidney problems.
Former NFL Star Thinks Kiffin Didn't Give His Son A 'Fair Chance'
Former Atlanta Falcons great Bobby Butler didn?t think his son got a fair chance to play under Lane Kiffin. He strongly supports his son?s decision to transfer from USC.
Brice Butler had a promising freshman season at USC but saw his role reduced after the arrival of Kiffin.
?He had a new coach with new ideas, and it?s time for Brice to go ? it?s the right move,? said Bobby Butler, an NFL DB for 12 seasons (all with the Falcons).
?College football is such a big business and I told Brice a long time ago that you have to treat it as a big business. Don?t get so loyal that you trust everything they say, because again, this is a business.
?Just like Pete Carroll left last year, we?re leaving this year.?
Butler was redshirted his first year in college but began to emerge the following season, earning Pac-10 All-Freshman first team honors. He was projected to start last season but things changed with the arrival of Kiffin and his recruits, including freshman wide receiver Robert Woods.
?Lane Kiffin did not give Brice a fair chance ? no, he did not give him a fair chance at all,? said Butler.
?You take a kid who is a starter, then the next thing you know you put a kid who has only been [in college practice] for 10 days and start him in front of [Butler]. They didn?t even play the same [wide receiver positions].
?But it?s all good. It wasn?t meant to be at USC under Lane Kiffin, so he needs to go to a place that is right for him. We?re just going to keep moving forward, and everything is going to work out for Brice.?

?I just want to say to Jay at the end of his announcement, I heard your call,? Drew said. ?And now I?ve given an answer. Isaiah Crowell, we?re waiting on you; Antonio Richardson, we?re waiting on you; John Jenkins, we?re waiting on you; and Jeoffrey Pagan, we?re waiting on you. Come join what we?re putting together, the Dream Team. But remember, a dream is only a dream until you make it reality. So I?m calling you out on this one. I hope you?re not afraid to be thrown into the fire. I hope you?re not afraid to be the ones to make the change.?
DC Dan Quinn To Recruit Jacksonville Area For Gators
Florida head coach Will Muschamp has tabbed new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to be the Gators' primary recruiter in the Jacksonville area.

"He's a good guy. He's got great NFL experience obviously and was talking about the new staff and the offensive changes they are making. He told me he'd be recruiting this area for the Gators."

UConn Donor Wants $3M Gift Back
A major donor of the University of Connecticut wants a $3 million gift to the football program returned because of his dissatisfaction with athletic director Jeff Hathaway.
Robert G. Burton, the chairman and CEO of Burton Capital Management, LLC, has given more than $7 million to the football program, including a $2.5 million "lead gift" for the Burton Family Football Complex.
Burton informed Hathaway of his wishes in a letter dated Jan. 19, a copy of which was obtained by The Day of New London.
"The primary reason [former UConn coach] Randy [Edsall] took another job is because he couldn't work with you," Burton wrote to Hathaway, according to The Day.
"You are not qualified to be a Division I AD and I would have fired you a long time ago. You do not have the skills to manage and cultivate new donors."
