Lincoln Riley Not Interested In NFL At This Time

Dec 27, 2018 3:56 PM

Lincoln Riley is not currently interested in leaving Oklahoma for the NFL.

A number of NFL teams have interest in Riley.

“I can’t tell you how I’m gonna feel in 10 years, but no, not right now,” said Riley, when asked about his interest in coaching in the NFL. “If I wasn’t at one of the elite programs in the country, maybe, but no, I’m very happy where I’m at right now.

“If it was 20, 30 years ago, where there were some major differences, maybe. … The way the college game has evolved, financially it’s a lot better situation now when you compare it to NFL teams. We’re at a place where we’re happy, and we don’t take that for granted. I love coaching at Oklahoma, love coaching college football.”

Kyler Murray Won't Rule Out Future In NFL

Dec 27, 2018 2:03 PM

Kyler Murray hasn't changed his thought process this season in choosing the MLB over the NFL.

"Nothing has changed," he said. "I haven't put any energy into worrying about it or anything like that. All I can do is go out and play on Saturday and let my play speak for itself."

Murray signed a $4.66 million contract to play baseball for the Oakland A's this summer, but he hasn't completely ruled out the possibility of playing in the NFL.

"It's never bad to have options," Murray said Thursday, "but right now my main focus is this game."

Murray has thrown for 4,053 yards, 40 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He has rushed for 892 yards and 11 touchdowns.

"Obviously it wasn't in the air, but I've always felt I could play in the NFL," he said. "I'm a confident guy. There's not a lot of short quarterbacks in the league, but I think there's more guys paving the way for the transition of not really caring about how big you are, how tall you are. I've played this game my whole life and I've always felt I could do it."

Jim Harbaugh Reiterates He Won't Leave Michigan For NFL Return

Dec 9, 2018 3:29 PM

Jim Harbaugh reiterated on Sunday that he plans to remain at Michigan and won't return to the NFL.

"This is a choreographed message that comes up at this time every year before signing day," Harbaugh told ESPN this weekend. "It's people spreading messages to further their own personal agenda.

"But I'm on record right here, right now: I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying at Michigan. We have big plans here, and there's a lot we want to accomplish."

Harbaugh left the San Francisco 49ers to become head coach at Michigan after the 2014 season.

"I can't be any more clear about this -- it's not true," Harbaugh said. "I'm not going anywhere."

Harbaugh is 38-13 in his four years at Michigan and coached the Wolverines to a 10-2 record this season.

This is the second straight year Oklahoma has had a Heisman winner, with Murray following in the footsteps of Baker Mayfield.

Kyler Murray Could Be 1st Rounder If He Chose Football Over Baseball

Dec 7, 2018 11:48 AM

Kyler Murray has been planning on joining the Oakland A's in January after his senior season at Oklahoma is complete, but NFL scouts are interested in him as a pro quarterback.

Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay both suggested Murray would be a first-round pick in the NFL draft, if he pursued football.

In an interview with ESPN, his agent Scott Boras was steadfast that Murray will be playing baseball once Oklahoma's football season ends.

"In good faith that organization did something very unique. Never done before," Boras said of the A's. "So, [Murray] is going to reward the Oakland A's and their owners, fans, by executing the agreement to its truest intent and now continue his baseball career."

"I feel like I could play in the NFL, but as far as giving it up, as of now, yeah, that's the plan," Murray said Monday, when asked about his future. Pressed if anything could change his mind, he wavered. "I can't ... I don't have any words for you," he said.

Mel Kiper Jr. Finds 2019 QB Draft Class 'Extremely Intriguing'

Dec 5, 2018 1:39 PM

The 2018 quarterback draft class was extremely deep while the 2019 edition has been slower to develop, but has emerged of late.

Mel Kiper Jr. was asked to describe the class in one word.

"Can I have two words? Because I'll say extremely intriguing. The reason? Oregon's Justin Herbert isn't the clear-cut No. 1 quarterback anymore. Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State) is breathing down his neck after a phenomenal stretch to end the season. There's also Daniel Jones (Duke), who could be a mid-first-round pick. Then you have guys like Will Grier (West Virginia), Drew Lock (Missouri) and Ryan Finley (NC State) jockeying for position as potential Day 2 picks. There's a loooooong time to go until April, though, and all three of my top-ranked QBs are underclassmen who could return to school."

Kiper believes Herbert would have been ranked fifth in the 2018 class.
