Jets File Retaliatory Tampering Charges Against Patriots On Revis

Mar 25, 2015 12:15 PM

The New York Jets have filed retaliatory tampering charges against the New England Patriots based on comments by Robert Kraft.

Kraft, speaking to reporters at the league meetings in Phoenix, commented for the first time on the departure of Revis. The remark that caught the Jets' attention was Kraft saying, "I speak as a fan of the New England Patriots, we wanted to keep him."

That accusation stemmed from owner Woody Johnson, in an end-of-the-season news conference, telling reporters, "I'd love for Darrelle to come back."

Although Johnson's comments may have violated the league's anti-tampering rule, based on the letter of the law, the Jets felt it was a baseless charge because there was no malicious intent.

Johnson called Kraft immediately after the news conference, saying he "misspoke." The Patriots refused to let it slide, leading to Tuesday's counter move.

Greg Hardy To Meet With NFL

Mar 3, 2015 9:08 PM

Greg Hardy will meet with NFL officials on Wednesday to discuss his domestic violence case and possible reinstatement.

Hardy is set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 10 and has been on the commissioner's exempt list since mid-September.

He remained on the list after a Mecklenburg County judge dropped his domestic violence charges on Feb. 9 because accuser Nicole Holder refused to cooperate with the district attorney's office after reaching a financial settlement with Hardy.

Previously, the suspension for a first offense was two games. Hardy was arrested on May 13 and found guilty of assaulting and threatening Holder on July 15 by a Mecklenburg County judge.

That verdict was set aside when Hardy appealed and asked for a jury trial, which never occurred because the charges were dropped.

The Carolina Panthers are not expected to re-sign Hardy.
