Joseph Randle Violated Personal Conduct Policy, Likely To Be Suspended

Oct 29, 2015 12:22 PM

Joseph Randle left the Dallas Cowboys' practice facility for personal reasons after learning he lost the starting running back job to Darren McFadden.

Randle is now facing discipline for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Randle met with NFL investigators this summer and within the past week.

Randle will likely be suspended for multiple games for a February incident in Wichita, Kansas, where Randle was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana after police received a call about domestic violence with a weapon after an incident with Randle and the mother of his son.

It was the second time in four months Randle had been arrested.

Last October, he was arrested at a Frisco, Texas, mall for shoplifting.

Randle was at the Cowboys' facility Thursday and met with some of the coaches.

NFL Hires Paul Clement To Appeal Decision On Tom Brady

Oct 27, 2015 10:55 AM

The NFL has hired one of the most successful appellate attorney in the United States to fight the decision that reversed Tom Brady's four-game suspension.

Paul Clement, who has argued more U.S. Supreme Court cases than any other lawyer, filed papers on behalf of the NFL on Monday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York. Clement, who also defended the NFL in the class-action concussion lawsuit, has argued in the nation's highest court against Obamacare and in support of the Defense of Marriage Act, among other cases.

In early September, U.S. District Judge Richard Berman said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell used "his own brand of industrial justice" to discipline Brady for an alleged conspiracy to deflate footballs.

The league argues in its brief that Goodell acted within his discretion under the CBA to suspend Brady.

Brady and the NFLPA are due to respond in December, with Clement and the league offering a final response after that. A decision is expected in the spring.

Goodell, in an appearance Tuesday on ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike, reiterated that the NFL's decision to appeal is all about the league's rights in the CBA.

"I'm not spending any time on this issue, but it is important for us to know what we bargained for, what we agreed to in our collective bargaining agreement and make sure those processes that are agreed to in our collective bargaining agreement are followed," he said. "And so, we're not going to allow that kind of a decision to stand when we think it's in conflict with our collective bargaining agreement. That is the issue. It has nothing to do with any individual player or anyone else. It has something to do with Judge Berman's decision, and that's what we're appealing."

Johnny Manziel Pulled Over By Police During Domestic Dispute

Oct 16, 2015 6:20 PM

Johnny Manziel was pulled over by Avon police after police said a domestic argument with his girlfriend Colleen Crowley got out of hand on Interstate 90 westbound earlier in the week.

Police said alcohol was involved.

A witness called police after seeing Manziel's white Nissan use the shoulder of the road to pass her at a high speed.

The witness told police the couple was arguing and Crowley attempted to exit the vehicle while they were on the road.

In the report, both Manziel and Crowley admitted they were having an argument and Crowley threw a wallet out of the window.

In the report, Crowley told police Manziel pushed her head into a window. She wanted her cell phone because she was concerned about her safety and said she just wanted to return to Texas.

According to the report, police did not believe the couple was intoxicated to the point where they could be charged.

Manziel checked himself into rehab for alcohol earlier this year.

Crowley posted the following statement on Instagram:

"J & I are good. I appreciate the people who stopped to check on us and call the police, I could see how it may have looked. Anytime anyone sees a guy and a girl arguing on the side of a road they should definitely stop, you never know what that could be. Fortunately it was just an argument, it was private, and we are all good!"
