Russell Wilson Renegotiates Contract For Duane Brown Trade

Oct 31, 2017 11:48 AM

Russell Wilson renegotiated his contract to allow the Seattle Seahawks to trade for Duane Brown.

Wilson converted $6.26 million of his salary to a bonus and prorated it over the remaining three years to create $4.1 million in room. Wilson was immediately paid $6.26 million instead of receiving it over the rest of the season.

Brown gives Wilson his best left tackle in several seasons.

Texans Trade Duane Brown To Seahawks

Oct 30, 2017 11:37 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have acquired Duane Brown from the Houston Texans for Jeremy Lane, a 2018 fifth round pick and a 2019 second round pick.

John Schneider said the Seahawks are inheriting Brown's current deal from Houston, which runs through 2018, and that there is no new deal beyond that. Brown is owed about $5 million for the remainder of this season and is scheduled to make $9.75 million in 2018.

Schneider said the Seahawks had been talking with the Texans about Brown since Seattle lost starting left tackle George Fant to a torn ACL in the preseason.

Pete Carroll Refuted Trade Rumor Directly To Jimmy Graham

Oct 30, 2017 3:51 PM

Pete Carroll sought out Jimmy Graham following reports he was included in trade discussions.

"When I heard that, too, I went straight to Jimmy, I ran to him to make sure that it wasn't bothering him," Carroll said in his Monday morning radio show on 710 ESPN Seattle. "He was aware of it, in my observation. So we just talked about it eye to eye, the reality and the truth of it and that there was nothing there and somebody just made that up. By the time we got to game time, I checked back in with him a couple times just to make sure he was OK, because we need his spirit going in the right direction. He came around fine. He was fine. But he was -- I don't know, you'd have to ask him. I think it bothered him."

Graham is making $7.9 million this season, which would be a lot of money for a new team to take on.

Graham has four touchdowns over the past three games after catching two on Sunday.

Bennett: Kaepernick Resolution Needed Before More Talks With Owners

Oct 18, 2017 10:08 PM

While Roger Goodell is attempting to move the NFL past the player protests, Michael Bennett believes the continued unemployment of Colin Kaepernick must be addressed.

"I think the first step to even being able to even have a conversation is making sure that Colin Kaepernick gets an opportunity to play in the NFL," Bennett said Wednesday. "I think before we even negotiate anything about whether we sit, whether we stand [during the national anthem], it should be a negotiation about opening up the doors for Colin Kaepernick and giving him an opportunity again, because I feel like through everything, that's been lost.

"All of us are having an opportunity to be able to speak to our employers, but to think about the guy who started everything not to be able to have a voice at this moment, it just doesn't seem very right to me."

Kaepernick was brought up during the meetings between owners and players, according to Bennett, but there wasn't much discussion about him.

"I don't think we can work alongside of them until we address that issue," Bennett said. "I think the issue with Kaepernick is the start to a conversation. If they want us to be open to what they want, the dialogue, then that's something that needs to be on the table right there."

Bennett will continue to sit going forward.

Chris Carson Suffers Broken Bone In Leg

Oct 2, 2017 1:33 PM

Chris Carson suffered a broken bone high up in his left leg in addition to a high ankle sprain.

Carson was injured when tackled by Jon Bostic of the Colts. Carson had his leg placed in an air cast and was carted off the field.

“Last night when they did the initial x-rays his ankle was fine,” Carroll said. “He’s got a fracture that’s way up just below his knee. It’s not a displaced one and all that but because of the torque of the way it happened it was not in the area they were focused on so I told the team he didn’t have a broken leg and everybody was excited about that for him. But he does. … it was not in his ankle it was in his upper leg. We don’t know that means yet.”

Eddie Lacy looked good at running back for the Seahawks behind Carson.

Rees Odhiambo has been hospitalized after suffering a cardiac contusion, also known as a bruised heart.

Richard Sherman: Players Have Soured On Fantasy Football

Oct 2, 2017 12:53 PM

Richard Sherman believes that some fans dehumanize NFL players because of fantasy football, saying players "don't care about your fantasy team."

"I think a lot of people, a lot of fans out there have looked at players even less like people because of fantasy football and things like that," Sherman said. "You go and say, 'Oh man, this guy got hurt.'

"You're not thinking, 'Hey man, this guy got hurt -- he's really physically hurt and he's going to take time to recover and it's probably going to affect his mental state and his physical state and now he has a long, rigorous rehab.' You're thinking, 'Oh, man, he's messing up my fantasy team.'"

The cornerback's comments came in response to a postgame question about how players are affected when a teammate is injured.

Sherman's Seattle Seahawks teammate Chris Carson suffered a significant ankle injury on Sunday night.
