The Seattle Seahawks have waived Dwight Freeney after just four games.

Freeney recorded three sacks during his brief run with the team. He averaged 28 snaps over his first three games, but played just 17 on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

Freeney's deal was worth a prorated share of $1 million and included roster bonuses worth $8,000 for each game he was active.

Pete Carroll: Fake FG Would Have Been Good Call If We Made It

Nov 21, 2017 10:39 AM

Pete Carroll defended the Seattle Seahawks' perplexing fake field goal attempt at the end of the second quarter.

Blair Walsh was set for a 35-yard field goal try.

After the snap, holder Jon Ryan flipped a shovel pass to tight end Luke Willson, who was tackled by Grady Jarrett.

The Seahawks eventually lost by three.

"That would have been a really good call if we made it," Carroll said. "We saw what we wanted to do. Terrific opportunity, right where we wanted it. Defensive tackle made the better play ... he wasn't supposed to be there."

Richard Sherman Blasted Bills As Nathan Peterman Struggled

Nov 20, 2017 8:42 AM

There were a lot of questions surrounding the Buffalo Bills' decision to bench Tyrod Taylor in favor of Nathan Peterman heading into Sunday's game.

Those questions continued to mount as Peterman struggled mightily against the Los Angeles Chargers. The rookie tossed five interceptions before Sean McDermott pulled him from the game and sent Taylor in.

Richard Sherman, presumably taking in Sunday's action ahead of the Seattle Seahawks' game against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night, blasted the Bills on Twitter.

"So they bench my guy @TyrodTaylor and the guy they bring in has already thrown 2picks with 10mins left in the 1st. Great decision," the cornerback wrote on twitter.

McDermott said after the Bills' loss that he didn't regret the decision.

Russell Wilson Had Jaw Realigned Following Karlos Dansby Hit

Nov 18, 2017 10:35 AM

Russell Wilson had his jaw realigned following the hit he took in last Thursday's game by Karlos Dansby.

Wilson said he feels fortunate to have avoided suffering a fracture.

"It was pretty close," he said Friday. "The doctor was like, 'Man, any harder, we probably [would have] had to wire your mouth shut,' so that was a good thing that didn't happen."

Dansby was fined $18,231 by the NFL.

Wilson was sent off the field by referee Walt Anderson to be evaluated for a possible concussion then returned after missing one play without being examined, which led the NFL to launch an investigation into whether the team followed proper protocol.

Seahawks Likely To Be Fined For Russell Wilson Concussion Review

Nov 12, 2017 10:28 AM

A source close to the situation said the Seattle Seahawks violated the NFL's concussion protocol when allowing Russell Wilson to re-enter the game on Thursday.

Wilson should have gone to the locker room and been cleared by a team doctor and an independent physician.

The Seahawks are expected to face consequences because once an official removed Wilson from the game to be examined.

The NFL and NFL Players Association will jointly review the situation, interview members of the Seahawks organization early this week and come to a decision within the next couple of weeks.

The Seahawks can be fined up to $150,000, although it's unclear what their penalty will be. T

Seahawks Expected To Face Scrutiny Over Russell Wilson Concussion Test

Nov 10, 2017 9:51 AM

The Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson are expected to face scrutiny over a possible violation of NFL policy when he was sent off the field for a concussion check.

Wilson absorbed a hit to the chin from linebacker Karlos Dansby. Wilson did not show any obvious signs of a concussion, but referee Walt Anderson invoked his right to send Wilson off the field for a test.

With backup Austin Davis in the game, NBC's broadcast showed Wilson running to the sideline and then sitting down in the area where the tent would be pulled over him. But Wilson got back up before medical officials had a chance to join him and then replaced Davis after one play.

After the game, Wilson said he wasn't concussed on the hit and felt "completely clear."

The most notable injury was to Richard Sherman, who is believed to be lost for the season with an Achilles injury.

"This s--- should be illegal," Doug Baldwin said. "It is not OK. It's not OK. You can quote me on that.

"This is not OK. ... Absolutely, guys do not have enough time to recover. You can't recover in four days."

Baldwin suffered a groin injury in the game and one was of at least 15 players hurt or injured during the game.

"It's Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C, Exhibit D, Exhibit Z. Thursday night football should be illegal," Baldwin said.

Eddie Lacy To Have Larger Role In Week 9

Nov 2, 2017 9:26 AM

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to give Eddie Lacy a larger role on offense this Sunday against the Washington Redskins.

Seattle acquired Duane Brown via trade this week and Pete Carroll is also hoping that choosing a lead back will help get the team's running game going.

"I don't feel like we have been in a rhythm," Carroll said. "I think I've held them back a little bit by spreading it around quite a bit and trying to figure that out. So as we zero in the second half [of the season] hopefully we are going to make some headway."
