Richard Sherman Classifies Trade Talks As 'Business'

Mar 31, 2017 8:29 AM

Richard Sherman is taking recent trade rumors in stride.

"I wouldn't want to leave this city and my guys, but I understand it's a business and organizational philosophies change," Sherman told 710 ESPN.

The Seattle Seahawks reportedly received calls about Sherman, but John Schneider noted that he takes calls about many players but didn't plan to move his best cornerback.

Pete Carroll further doused the speculation, calling it "banter" and saying, "I don't see anything happening."

Seahawks Willing To Listen On Richard Sherman Trade Offers

Mar 29, 2017 3:49 PM

John Schneider wouldn't rule out the possibility of the Seattle Seahawks trading away Richard Sherman.

"I mean, we listen," Schneider said, via ESPN.com. "We listen to like everything you would think. We're in a lot of stuff. We try to pride ourselves on that. I think I've told you guys before we walk away from 98 percent of the deals that we're involved with or talking about.

"But at least we know that we've knocked down their door, we've gone in there and checked it out. We're not just going to assume. We always just have to constantly be thinking about the organization and how we're going to move it forward."

Pete Carroll admitted the Seahawks have received trade calls on Sherman.

"I don't see anything happening at all," Carroll said.

The New England Patriots were among the teams who contacted the Seahawks on Sherman.

Marshawn Lynch's Agent Unsure If He'll Return

Mar 21, 2017 1:46 PM

The agent of Marshawn Lynch is unsure if he will come out of retirement to join the Oakland Raiders.

The Seattle Seahawks own the NFL rights to Lynch and he'd have to petition the NFL to return and then be released or traded.

“Well, in all sincerity, Marshawn’s been in Canada,” agent Doug Hendrickson told KNBR Monday. “I’m due to see him this week. So he and I have not spoken about this at all. So it was the media who took the ball and ran with it. He’s one of the most unique guys I’ve ever been with in my life.

“Marshawn, it wouldn’t shock me if he says, 'Hey, I want to play.’ It wouldn’t shock me if he says, 'Nah, I don’t know where this came from. I don’t want to play.’ ”

According to Hendrickson, money won’t be the biggest issue with regard to a comeback.

“He doesn’t spend any of the money he’s made. He’s got a lot of money,” Hendrickson said. “He does miss football. No question. He loves the game of football. He’s 30. But until I meet with him this week, you know, I don’t know what his mindset is. He’s the kind of guy that can shift by the hour.”

Seahawks OK With Eddie Lacy Playing At Higher Weight

Mar 15, 2017 1:50 PM

The Seattle Seahawks are fine with Eddie Lacy playing at a slightly higher weight than he did with the Green Bay Packers last season.

Lacy agreed to a one-year deal with Seattle on Tuesday.

Pete Carroll said Lacy, who was listed at 235 pounds last season and whose weight was an issue with the Packers in 2015, is still rehabbing from the ankle injury that cost him several games and the Seahawks want his weight in the 240s.

"He's a big back. He's a big guy. Ain't nothing wrong with that," Carroll told The John Clayton Show on 710 ESPN Seattle. "But there will be a real concerted effort to make sure he's at his very best. This is a hard time for him because he's working some rehab right now, but he is well-aware of what our expectations and the standards that we're setting. We would not have done this if we didn't have a really clear understanding of how we're going to go forward.

"This is a big deal for him. It's a one-year contract for him. This is a chance for him to prove it and show where he is in the league and how he fits in and how he can work to secure a good future for him. And he knows all of that. Coming here is really something he's pumped up about because he knows how we see it, too. So we're going to get him in great shape. We're going to show him at his very best. There's a weight in there that's a really good spot for him that he's working toward. And we'll do a nice job with that."

Michael Bennett Will Donate All Endorsement Money In 2017 To Charity

Mar 9, 2017 1:26 PM

Michael Bennett has pledged to donate all of his endorsement money in 2017 to causes that help rebuild minority communities and empower women of color.

"I was inspired by Chance the Rapper to 'think bigger' when he pledged one million dollars to Chicago kids and their school system," Bennett said in a statement. "So, I'll be joining him by investing in the future of our youth. The system is failing our kids, and it will be up to the community and our leaders to help keep the hope alive by focusing on improving our education system and the future of our kids. Any company that decides to invest in me, just know that you'll be investing in opportunities and providing inspiration for these families -- many who feel unnoticed or go unmentioned."

Bennett said he will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from his jersey sales in 2017 to support inner-city garden projects. He also called on other athletes to join the cause.

"I'm asking all professional athletes to join me by donating a portion of your endorsements this year to a cause of your choice," Bennett said. "We can make a difference. It's up to us to help plant seeds of hope and help fuel the future."
