Seahawks Cut Ties With T.J. Duckett

The Seahawks have dumped T.J. Duckett. Duckett, a first round pick of the Falcons in 2002, is now an unrestricted free agent. Seattle signed Duckett in 2008. The team cut ties with him after agreeing to terms with Edgerrin James on Monday afternoon, according to league sources.

The Seahawks have agreed to terms with running back Edgerrin James on a one-year, $2 million deal. A league source told ProFootballTalk.com of the agreement. Julius Jones, T.J. Duckett, Justin Forsett, and Devin Moore are also on the Seattle depth chart. RealGM Note: James was ranked 60th in season FIC amongst running backs during the 2008 season and 'deserved' to make just over $1M.

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander told the Sporting News that he isn't retired from football. "I'm training like I'm going to come into some team and take over. I'm not retired. I feel like I've got a handful of good years left. I'm going to train like that. There have been some teams we've had talks with. This is the business nature of football. You always feel like it's a young man's game. ... I'm really excited, because I think some team is going to get a really good football player," the former Seahawk and Redskin said.

The Seahawks have signed first-round draft choice Aaron Curry to a contract that will guarantee the linebacker from Wake Forest $34M, a person familiar with the deal said Saturday night, according to an Associated Press report. The contract is the richest for a rookie non-quarterback in NFL history and has a maximum value of $60M. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Seahawks haven?t announced the agreement?s financial terms.
