Mark Brunell was the subject of an inquiry by the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, sources said, but no deal was completed after Washington's 31-14 loss to the Jaguars at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The Redskins could still deal him with roster cuts looming Saturday -- Atlanta expressed some interest weeks ago -- although the market for the 36-year-old is not deep.

Culpepper Looks Sharper Than McCown
If Lane Kiffin needed the preseason finale to decide who his starting quarterback will be, Daunte Culpepper should be his man.
The Raiders first-year coach watched the recently deposed Dolphins starter complete 11 of 19 passes for 108 yards and lead the offense to its only touchdown in Oakland's 19-14 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night.
Seattle Signs QB Wallace To Extension
According to a report in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Seahawks signed Seneca Wallace to a four-year contract extension on Tuesday.
The deal is reportedly worth about $5.4 million, reworking the remaining year of Wallace's old contract that paid him a base salary of $800,000. The new deal keeps the 26-year-old with the club through the 2010 season.
No L.T., Chargers Lose To Seattle In Opener
Shaun Alexander barely broke a sweat. LaDainian Tomlinson didn't even suit up.
Alexander's Seahawks beat Tomlinson's Chargers 24-16 on Sunday night, getting the go-ahead points on a 36-yard field goal from Josh Brown with 7:18 left. Brown had missed a 41-yard attempt, but got a second chance when the Chargers were penalized for having 12 men on the field.
Third-stringer Marquis Weeks added a 6-yard scoring run with 1:55 left.
Is Tice's Dream Job In Seattle?
Former Vikings coach Mike Tice of the Jacksonville Jaguars spent nearly his entire five-week summer break in Seattle, where he owns a large home on the water. Don't think the Seattle Seahawks aren't his dream coaching job.
