Hasselbeck Expected To Be Throwing By June

Matt Hasselbeck is ahead of his original recovery schedule. The Seahawks now expect the Pro Bowl quarterback from two seasons ago to be throwing again by June, if not during the first week of May, following surgery in January to repair torn labrum cartilage in Hasselbeck's left, non-throwing shoulder.

The Seahawks have re-signed Bobby Engram to a multiyear contract even though they already have a stable of younger receivers in place. Team president Tim Ruskell said Friday that experience and Engram's rapport with wide receivers Darrell Jackson, Deion Branch and Nate Burleson were among the reasons the 34-year-old is coming back for a seventh season in Seattle.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis expects Bobby Engram to re-sign with Seattle, according to the New Orleans Time-Picayune. The newspaper said Loomis stated that in an e-mail. Engram came to the Seahawks in 2001 and has played the past six seasons here. He is an unrestricted free agent and previously visited the Saints.

Jerramy Stevens' days with Seattle are done. Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell confirmed what was quickly becoming a foregone conclusion in Seattle. "I would say it's probably a time for a change of scenery and to move on," Ruskell said Tuesday. Speaking at the muddy worksite of the Seahawks' new headquarters, scheduled to open in the summer of 2008, Ruskell verified Seattle's lack of interest in retaining the tight end, an unrestricted free agent who spent his first five seasons with the Seahawks.

Police Investigate Rape Claim At Kerney's Home

Police are investigating a woman's claims she was raped at the home of former Falcons defensive end Patrick Kerney. Kerney, who recently signed with the Seahawks, was not a suspect in the assault, which reportedly took place early Sunday. The 29-year-old woman told police she and some friends were at a bar in Atlanta's trendy Buckhead area and accepted a ride home from three men, Atlanta's WSB-TV reported Monday. Once back at Kerney's home, the men were invited inside for drinks.

Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens was accused of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after police stopped his car in downtown Scottsdale early Tuesday. A Scottsdale patrol officer noticed the car traveling erratically and made the stop about 2:15 a.m.

The Seattle Seahawks cut defensive end Grant Wistrom, designating him a post-June 1 salary-cap casualty to soften the blow on this year's salary cap. Just this week, Seattle signed defensive end Patrick Kerney, so it was apparent that the team was going to release one of its other ends. It turned out to be the high-priced Wistrom, whom the Seahawks once signed to a contract that included $14 million in guaranteed money.

Graham Agrees To Five-Year Deal With Broncos

After losing defensive end Patrick Kerney to the Seahawks in a bidding war, the Broncos weren't going to be outdone. The Broncos outbid the Seahawks for Patriots tight end Daniel Graham in a negotiation that went well into Tuesday night. Graham ended up with a five-year, $30 million deal from the Broncos that included $15 million in guarantees.
