49ers Crush Cardinals, Lose Gore For Season

Brian Westbrook rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured Frank Gore and the San Francisco 49ers sent punchless Arizona to its sixth straight loss, 27-6 Monday night, as reported by ESPN.com Gore left in the first half with what was later diagnosed as a fractured right hip.

Broncos Blanketed 49ers With Apologies

Before Denver's videotaping incident became public Saturday, owner Pat Bowlen had personally called San Francisco owner John York to apologize for his team's actions, according to a source. In addition, each of the top layers of the Broncos organization called his matching 49ers colleague to apologize. The NFL fined the Broncos and McDaniels $50,000 each because the team's video operations director filmed a 49ers practice in London last month.

The 49ers have struggled to make adjustments on offense throughout the 2010 season. One veteran player said the team's offense "doesn't make adjustments like other teams." One former player said it looks as if "there's no backup plan." "You could say they don't make the halftime adjustments, they don't come emotionally charged," offensive coordinator Mike Johnson said. "You could put a lot of different things into that. Scoring more points in the third quarter is definitely something that we would like to do."

Jerry Rice was named the greatest player in NFL history on Thursday, according to an NFL Network special. Rice finished ahead of Jim Brown and Lawrence Taylor. The voting was conducted by a panel of former football coaches and executives as well as writers and broadcasters convened by NFL Films President Steve Sabol. Joe Montana, Walter Payton, Johnny Unitas, Reggie White, Peyton Manning, Don Hutson and Dick Butkus comprised the remainder of the top-10.
