49ers Confidant In Jim Tomsula Moving Forward

Dec 21, 2015 11:44 AM

CBS sideline reporter Jay Feely said he believes Jim Tomsula will return as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers for a second season.

“I had a chance to talk to Al Guido, the COO for the 49ers beforehand,” Feely said on the broadcast. “They knew what they were getting into when they had all the defections. (He) said they underestimated a little bit the impact that it had in the locker room, specifically the lack of leadership. . . But I think they’re confident with Jim Tomsula going forward.”

When CSNBayArea.com asked Jed York for his reaction after the game, York responded, “We’ll talk about everything at the end of the season.”

Guido appears the likely candidate to replace Paraag Marathe as 49ers president after the Super Bowl.

Jarryd Hayne Plans To Become 'Completely Different' Player

Dec 19, 2015 4:54 PM

Jarryd Hayne struggled in his first season in the NFL after coming over from the National Rugby League.

Hayne plans on continuing his quest to play American Football.

"Oh definitely. It's been exciting," Hayne said when asked if he's coming back in 2016, via the Sacramento Bee. "To come this far in seven months, give me 12, 14 (and) it's going to be completely different. And I think anyone who's seen my growth will tell you how much I've changed and developed. And it's always funny, looking at old film, it's one of those awkward things ... 'What was I thinking? Or, 'What was I doing?' It's hilarious."

49ers Were 'Crazy' To Treat Colin Kaepernick Like Traditional QB

Dec 3, 2015 1:22 PM

The San Francisco 49ers seemingly took an ideal situation for Colin Kaepernick and created a challenging one for his skill-set at quarterback.

"I think they are catering to a traditional quarterback style with their throws, with their plays," one personnel director said. "It is really crazy because they paid him all that money. When Kaepernick was having success, they were doing the read-option, they were rolling him out, he was doing stuff like that. He has a strong arm and he is not terribly accurate, but when he had that threat of running, he was much better."

Philadelphia, St. Louis, Buffalo and Denver are four places with run-oriented philosophies and potentially unsettled quarterback situations for the long term. Seattle and Atlanta have that same philosophy but no long-term need at the position. Dallas has the offensive line and a run-based attack that could really help Kaepernick.
