Bill Belichick won't reveal who will call plays for the New England Patriots in 2022.
Belichick downplayed the importance of the role, saying "when we get to it, we'll get to it."
The coach was even asked if he would be the one in charge of play-calling. Predictably, his response lacked spice.
"I've called them and I haven't called them," Belichick said. "Other people have called them and haven't called them. We'll see."
Joe Judge says his role with the New England Patriots includes working with Mac Jones and the team's quarterbacks.
The role of offensive assistant will be an important one this season with the departure of Josh McDaniels, who was named the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Judge was asked if he would call plays in 2022 and said: "Look, I'll tell you directly and honestly right now, nothing has been declared or decided or voiced to me. ... In terms of who calls plays, to be honest with you, that's not the main focus right now. When Coach wants to go ahead and declare a role like that, he'll tell us."
The New England Patriots have agreed to trade Jarrett Stidham to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders and Patriots will swap late round picks as part of the trade.
Stidham was once considered a top candidate to replace Tom Brady, but he will now compete against Nick Mullens and Garrett Gilbert to become Derek Carr's backup.
Stidham has appeared in eight games over his three NFL seasons, all as a reserve. He has completed 48-of-124 passes for 270 yards, with two touchdowns and four interceptions.
