The New England Patriots are bringing Malcolm Butler back on a two-year deal worth up to $9 million.

Butler spent the 2021 season on the reserve/retired list after signing with the Arizona Cardinals.

The cornerback, 32, was the hero of Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Los Angeles Chargers are adding J.C. Jackson on a five-year, $82.5 million deal, according to a source.

The now former New England Patriots cornerback will receive $40 million guaranteed.

Jackson had eight interceptions this past season and made his first Pro Bowl.

The New England Patriots have released Kyle Van Noy.

The move creates $4.1 million in cap space for the Patriots, who now have about $9 million to use.

Van Noy was scheduled to count $7.3 million against the team's cap.

The linebacker had signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Patriots in March 2021 (with $6 million guaranteed).
