"That stuff is over and done with; it's a good feeling."

Ronnie Brown Thinks He's 'More Explosive'

Oct 21, 2014 4:44 PM

Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown worked hard this offseason and feels as though he's now "more explosive." Concerns about Brown's weight and knees are things of the past. "As far as shape goes, he's outstanding right now," said Dolphins coach Tony Sparano. "That sounds like a company line, but I mean it. In the weight room the guy is super right now. He weighs 230 pounds, he's running better, he is stronger, so all of those things from a progress standpoint I see as positives." Brown believes that he deserves to be mentioned among the best running backs in football, and appears ready to prove that this season. "I think I'm more explosive," he added.

Dolphins Dispute Report Of Davis Arrest

Oct 21, 2014 4:50 PM

The Dolphins are disputing a report that first-round pick Vontae Davis was arrested June 9 for unnecessary vehicular noise and driving without a valid license. "I talked to Vontae, and he was here all day on June 9," Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said. "In addition, it was an OTA [organized team activity] day he participated in. Following the on-field activities, there was a rookie symposium that didn't end until 3:30. So, it's physically impossible for him to be in Champaign [Illinois] at 6:47."

Dolphins Thrilled To Have Vontae Davis

Oct 21, 2014 4:50 PM

The Dolphins were looking to improve their pass defense this season, and were thrilled to use their first-round pick on Vontae Davis. Davis, a 5'11" corner, is exactly the type of player that Miami coach Tony Sparano was looking to add. "There are some big receivers out there that these corners get matched up against quite a bit, and it's always been our philosophy - ever since I've been around Bill - to have bigger corners," Sparano said. "It's just not easy to find them. "It's not a secret that first and foremost you're concerned about your division because you play those people twice. When you're playing against teams that have passing attacks like the Patriots have, that have a receiving group like the Patriots have - that's one of the best in the league - and a team that added Terrell to go with Lee Evans in Buffalo, and Jerricho Cotchery and that group in New York, there is no question about it. "You're obviously trying to put the best pieces together for your team overall, but you're also conscious of what other people around you have. We have to be able to match up with them somehow."

Pennington Doesn't See 'Competition' In Miami

Oct 21, 2014 4:49 PM

Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington doesn't see Chad Henne or Pat White as competition, but rather preparation. "I really don't look it as competition, I look at it as preparation," Pennington said Sunday. "Chad [Henne] and I are preparing for when our number is called, we are ready to play and ready to lead this team. We just have to go through an evaluation process. We prepare, they evaluate. "When you look at it like that, it makes it real simple. It keeps us focused and it allows us to keep communication lines open. It allows us to root for each other, to help each other, to talk to each other. To me, it doesn't matter who the starting quarterback is. The starting quarterback cannot play and play well if he feels like the guy behind him is trying to undermine him on what he is doing. It just doesn't work. I am in an unbelievable situation. Both Chad and Pat have done a great job of supporting me and I am going to do my best to support them."
