Dolphins Rule Out Reggie Bush
Dolphins running back Reggie Bush will miss the team's season finale against the Jets because of a right knee injury.
Bush, who has enjoyed his first 1,000-yard season, suffered the injury last week in Miami's loss to New England.
His average of 5.0 yards per rush is the highest for a 1,000-yard runner this year.
Revis Doesn't Buy Into Marshall's 'Jordan Rule' Claim
Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has responded to criticism from Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who claimed the defender receives favoritism from the officials.
Marshall said the "Jordan Rule" applies to Revis. He believes game officials don't call pass-interference or holding penalties on Revis because of who he is.
"Just to speak on the 'Jordan Rule,' or whatever it's called, the Kobe Bryant rule, you know, both sides do things all the time," Revis said Thursday. "One thing that Brandon Marshall does on routes is pushes off, but I'm not going to use that as a throwback. It's just something I know in his game that he does."
Revis believes Marshall, who has 76 catches for 1,164 yards and six touchdowns this season, should be the last player talking about extra contact.
"Yes, I think Brandon is, by far, the most physical receiver in the league," said Revis, who stepped in front of a pass intended for Marshall and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown in Week 6.
"Like I said, we always have these matches and it's great. Even when I played him a couple of years ago when he was in Denver, (he was) a complete receiver. He can catch all the balls and run all the routes. He's just physical all the time."
Tomlinson: Miami Game Could Be Last
LaDainian Tomlinson is a free agent after this season and has acknowledged that the regular-season finale Sunday at Miami could be the last game of his career if New York does not make the playoffs.
"There's definitely the thought that this possibly could be because you never know how things shake out," Tomlinson said.
"For me, it just depends on the situation. I've said that before. I would love to keep playing, but if the situation is not right, then I won't. And this possibly could be my last game."
Tomlinson signed a two-year deal with the Jets in 2010 after nine record-breaking seasons with the Chargers.
Bush Believes He Can Lead NFL In Rushing
Reggie Bush, in his first season with the Dolphins, has enjoyed the first 1,000-yard rushing effort of his NFL career.
The former member of the Saints doesn't want to stop there.
"I feel like there's so much more," Bush said. "This is just the tip of the iceberg."
When asked if he's capable of winning an NFL rushing title, noting the task often requires well above 1,500 yards, he did not hesitate.
"Yes, I do," Bush said. "No disrespect to anyone, but I've spent a lot of time studying different players, including Chris Johnson. I've watched a ton of his runs, especially during his 2,000-yard season. And yeah, I feel like I'm capable of a lot, but I'm not worrying about that yet. My mental focus is entirely on this next game. If I wasn't, my priorities would be backward, and I wouldn't be setting myself up to accomplish any of this."
Marshall: 'Jordan Rule' Applies To Revis
Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall believes that Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis gets special consideration from officials.
Marshall, still upset over the cornerback's interception returned 100 yards for a touchdown in Miami's 24-6 loss to New York in Week 6, said officials allowed the cornerback to play by his own set of rules.
"My technique could have been better, but at the same time, I think they gave him the Jordan Rule," Marshall said.
"You get a little close to Michael Jordan, they're going to call a foul. It works that way in football. Some guys, they're scared to throw the flag. ... He may be getting that rule."
Jason Taylor Set To Announce Retirement
Jason Taylor, one of the NFL's top sack specialists of all time, is expected to call an end to his legendary career Sunday, according to The Miami Herald.
The Herald, citing two Dolphins sources, reports Taylor has decided to step aside for good following Sunday's home game against the Jets.
The six-time Pro Bowler holds Miami career records for sacks (143), opponents' fumble recoveries (27), fumble returns for touchdowns (6), defensive touchdowns (9) and interceptions by a defensive lineman (7).
Brees Sets NFL Record For Yards Passing
Drew Brees set the NFL record for yards passing in a season, breaking a mark that Dan Marino had held for 27 years, and the Saints clinched the NFC South title with a 45-16 victory over the Falcons on Monday night.
Brees threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns, the last a 9-yard strike to Darren Sproles that set the record with 2:51 to go.
It was Brees' final pass of the game and it gave him 5,087 yards passing, with one game still to play. Marino finished with 5,084 yards for the Dolphins in 1984.
Belichick Gave Patriots Halftime Attitude Adjustment Vs. Dolphins
Down 17-0 to the Dolphins at halftime on Saturday, the Patriots needed a wake-up call, and apparently they got a loud, profane one from coach Bill Belichick.
"It's probably not even legal for me to say it (Belichick's halftime speech) right now, so I won't," linebacker Jerod Mayo said.
"I'm not even going to censor it. Too many bleeps. But just know, we needed to come out and play better."
Mayo played just fine, with 13 tackles and two sacks, but New England's normally potent offense wasn't itself in the first half, punting six times.
Source: Jake Long Suffered Torn Biceps
Dolphins left tackle Jake Long tore his biceps during Saturday's loss to the Patriots, according to a source.
Long left the game early in the second quarter and did not return.
Brees Inches Closer To Marino's Passing Mark
Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw for 412 yards and five touchdowns on Sunday as he continues to march towards Dan Marino's single-season yardage record.
Brees has 4,780 yards for the season, putting him 304 away from Marino's single season record set in 1984 with two games to play.
"I'm aware that we're close," Brees said of Marino's hallowed mark. "I just know if we keep doing what we're doing all of that stuff will take care of itself."
