Vontae Davis, selected by the Miami Dolphins, has been described as having potential character problems. "Please tell the Dolphins fans how I really am," he said, wrapping up a phone conversation from his grandmother's home in Washington D.C. "I'm the total opposite of what they say."

On Monday, the Dolphins decided to cut John Beck, who was hyped as their quarterback of the future back in 2007. Beck reportedly made several calls to team employees to thank them for the opportunity after his release. "I've never had a player do that before," one employee told the Miami Herald. "We want to thank John for his work ethic and his professionalism," general manager Jeff Ireland said. "We wish him well in the future."

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland insisted on Saturday night that the team is not shopping running Ronnie Brown. Rumors of Miami trading Brown were a hot topic this offseason, but Ireland said that speculation should be "put to bed." Ireland told the South Florida Sun-Sentinal that team wouldn't be trading Brown, "and you can write that."

The National Football Post has reported that the Dolphins could be shopping running back Ronnie Brown if teams show interest. The report might come as a surprise to some, but the Football Post pointed out the Brown had just three games of more than 100 yards last season and broke his longest run (62 yards) out of the Wildcat formation.

Dolphins quarterback John Beck now appears to be an expendable commodity, one of the final remaining players drafted by the team's former regime. Beck is a hard worker, but Chad Pennington and Chad Henne appear to be Miami's quarterbacks of the present and future. "It will be hard to get John work," coach Tony Sparano said. "But there's only three quarterbacks right now. That's all we're carrying. With John, he knows his job first and foremost is to compete with Henne. He gets his reps in practice. He'll get some reps in the preseason games, as well."

Free agent defensive end Jason Taylor is talking to the Dolphins about a return to the club. Taylor, the team's all-time sack leader, wouldn't elaborate on the talks, but admitted that he couldn't see himself playing for the Jets. "It'd be very, very, very difficult. Very difficult," Taylor said. "But at the end of the day, if you can't find a job anywhere else and the Jets call, I guess you've got to retire or go play."

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland wants Ted Ginn to show why he was the ninth overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. "Teddy is going into his third year and I think it's time for him to really show what he was drafted here to do," Ireland said. Ireland went on to say that he's happy with Ginn and Greg Camarillo, but that he's looking to upgrade the team's receiving unit.

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland has admitted that Michael Vick is well-suited for the Wildcat offense, but the team isn't interested in the troubled quarterback. "We have three terrific quarterbacks on our roster and I'm not really interested in going after Michael," Ireland told the Miami Herald.

Anquan Boldin has gone back and forth on whether or not he wants to be dealt by the Cardinals, and would now welcome the idea of playing for the Dolphins. "I would love to," Boldin said on ESPN Radio 760 in Palm Beach. "You know, I'm a Florida guy, always will be a Florida guy at heart. If it happens, I'll definitely be grateful."
