The Cleveland Browns are signing Josh Rosen to a one-year contract, according to sources.

Rosen is expected to serve as insurance at quarterback with Deshaun Watson's likely suspension. Jacoby Brissett would start in Watson's absence.

Rosen, 25, has spent time with five NFL teams since he was drafted out of UCLA.

The Cleveland Browns are quietly bracing for Deshaun Watson to receive an eight-game suspension from the NFL.

It had previously been reported that Watson would likely be suspended anywhere from two to eight games.

Ryan Switzer, who had a five-year career in the NFL, has retired from football.

Switzer spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He was on the practice squad while battling injuries.

Before that, Switzer spent two years returning kicks and punts for the Pittsburgh Steelers. 

He was originally a fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cleveland Browns will pursue a quarterback to serve as Jacoby Brissett's backup if Deshaun Watson is suspended for a "lengthy period of time," according to a report.

Josh Dobbs is currently No. 3 on the depth chart behind Watson and Brissett.

The Cleveland Browns are interested in adding Ndamukong Suh in free agency, according to a report.

Suh has recently been linked to the Las Vegas Raiders and Minnesota Vikings.

Cleveland has Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney along the defensive line, but presumptive starting defensive tackles, Taven Bryan and Jordan Elliott, have a combined 21 starts between them.

Deshaun Watson is facing 24 accusers in civil court, but under the NFL's disciplinary process the number of accusers is down to four.

The NFL originally spoke to 12 of the Watson accusers, before presenting five cases during the disciplinary hearing that began 13 days ago.

However, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that the case centers around four women, not five.

It hasn't been long since the Cleveland Browns traded Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers.

Stories about how the Browns viewed the quarterback are starting to trickle out.

Mayfield was "widely viewed as childish and immature," according to a report. The quarterback's behavior annoyed teammates and divided the locker room, and he was reportedly often difficult to coach.

The Cleveland Browns are trading Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers for a 2024 conditional fifth-round pick (which can become a fourth-round selection), according to a report.

Cleveland used the No. 1 overall pick on Mayfield in 2018.

Mayfield agreed to trim $3.5 million off his base salary to facilitate the trade, which will see the Browns pay the quarterback $10.5 million and Panthers roughly $5 million.

The trade clears about $8 million off the Browns' cap sheet.
