Deshaun Watson could still face discipline from the NFL under the league's personal conduct policy as a result of the 22 pending civil suits accusing him of inappropriate sexual conduct, says Roger Goodell.

Watson won't face criminal charges in the cases.

"Obviously these are serious charges, so we're looking at it seriously," Goodell said. "The personal conduct policy is something that is very important to us, and it does not need a criminal violation in order to pursue it."

The Cleveland Browns acquired Watson in a massive trade with the Houston Texans earlier this month.

Deshaun Watson's record-setting contract with the Cleveland Browns could have ripple effects for quarterback deals going forward, according to Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti.

Watson received a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract from the Browns after getting traded from the Houston Texans. That's $80 million more than the previous record for fully guaranteed money at signing.

The Ravens are looking to negotiate a contract extension with Lamar Jackson, who is entering his fifth-year option.

"I'm trying to answer that when I had a reaction to it. And it's like, 'Damn, I wish they hadn't guaranteed the whole contract,'" Bisciotti said. "I don't know that he should've been the first guy to get a fully guaranteed contract. To me, that's something that is groundbreaking, and it'll make negotiations harder with others."

Bisciotti then added, "But it doesn't necessarily mean that we have to play that game, you know? We shall see. If I was in bogged-down negotiations with Lamar, then maybe I would have a quicker reaction to that news."

A second grand jury has declined to charge Deshaun Watson with sexual assault or misconduct.

The decision comes two weeks after a Texas grand jury declined to file charges against the quarterback related to nine criminal complaints alleging sexual assault or misconduct.

While Watson has not been criminally charged for any alleged misconduct, he still faces 22 civil lawsuits alleging "serial predator" behavior related to private massage therapy sessions while playing for the Houston Texans.

The Cleveland Browns are not seeking a first round pick in trade talks for Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield, who was the No. 1 pick in 2018, will be traded by the Browns after they acquired Deshaun Watson.

The Seattle Seahawks have inquired about the availability of Mayfield, while the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons are out.

The Browns currently have no plans to pay some of Mayfield's salary.

The Cleveland Browns have signed Jacoby Brissett to a one-year deal.

Brissett will serve as Deshaun Watson's backup. Watson could receive a lengthy suspension from the NFL as he has been accused by 22 women of sexual assault and inappropriate contact during massage sessions.

Brissett started five games for Miami last season while filling in for an injured Tua Tagovailoa, leading the Dolphins to four wins while throwing for 1,283 yards and 5 touchdowns with 4 interceptions. He spent the previous four seasons with Indianapolis.

Baker Mayfield has informed the Cleveland Browns that he would like a trade to the Indianapolis Colts.

Mayfield requested a trade from the Browns following their pursuit of Deshaun Watson.

The Colts traded away Carson Wentz this offseason and are in need of a quarterback.

The Browns then offered to fly to Texas to meet with Mayfield, but he considered the bridge to be burned and time to move on.

Mayfield was the first overall pick by the Browns in 2018. 

“It’s in the mutual interest of both sides for us to move on," Mayfield told ESPN. "The relationship is too far fine to mend. It’s in the best interests of both sides to move on.”

The Cleveland Browns have been informed that they're out of the running to trade for Deshaun Watson.

Watson instead eliminated the Browns from contention, leaving the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons as the remaining known contenders for Watson.

Watson's decision puts the Browns in a complicated predicament with incumbent quarterback Baker Mayfield.

The Browns will now have to decide whether they will attempt to reconcile with Mayfield or trade the 2018 No. 1 pick and try to acquire another quarterback.

The Browns would prefer to retain Mayfield.

Baker Mayfield almost certainly will not return to the Cleveland Browns next season as the team has had interest in trading for Deshaun Watson.

Mayfield published an open letter to fans of the Browns on Tuesday evening in response to the team's pursuit of Watson.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN said earlier on Wednesday that the Browns and Mayfield are breaking up because the Browns want an “adult” at the quarterback position.

The Cleveland Browns are releasing Austin Hooper, according to a source.

By releasing the tight end before June 1, the Browns are saving $9.5 million against the cap.

Hooper signed with the Cleveland Browns in 2020, coming off a 75-catch season with the Atlanta Falcons.
