Researchers: Henry Had Brain Damage

May 17, 2014 1:58 AM

Chris Henry, who died in a traffic accident last year, had a form of brain damage at the time of his death. The Bengals wide receiver had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a form of brain damage caused by multiple hits to the head, according to scientists at the Brain Injury Research Institute. "We would have been very happy if the results had been negative, but multiple areas of Chris Henry's brain showed CTE," said Julian Bailes, Director of BIRI.

Willie Anderson Mulling Comeback

May 20, 2014 7:23 AM

Willie Anderson is mulling a return to the NFL, according to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli. Anderson told the Cincinnati Enquirer that he realizes a return to the Bengals is unlikely. "I don't know," he said. "I don't think they want me back but they don't necessarily need me back. They continue to build for the future and most times teams that are in contention do not add a veteran unless there is a serious need." Anderson, who does not expect to get calls from team until late July at the earliest, is down to 330 pounds.

Bengals Open To New Deal For Benson

Sep 4, 2014 10:51 AM

The Bengals are open to giving running back Cedric Benson a contract extension. Representatives for Benson have contacted Cincinnati about a possible extension after a successful run with the team. He will be a free agent after the 2010 season. "Things are coming to me a lot easier this year," Benson said. "Even if there is a play that I'm not 100 percent sure about, it's easy to dissect it faster before the ball is snapped. I've made big improvements in that aspect and I'm a lot more comfortable in the offense. I think I'm more explosive making plays down the field and have improved on my overall speed, strength and endurance."

Matt Jones Unlikely To Last In Cincy

Sep 3, 2014 10:52 AM

Carlos Holmes of the Dayton Daily News writes that troubled wide receiver Matt Jones is unlikely to last with the Bengals past training camp. Jones didn't impress during Cincinnati's recent minicamp and was outplayed by Jerome Simpson, who hasn't seen much playing time since he was drafted. Both receivers are likely on the bubble due to the team's depth at the position.

Ochocinco Practices With Bengals

Sep 26, 2014 7:14 PM

Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco practiced with the team for the first time this offseason on Tuesday. He arrived in Cincinnati on Monday for a team event after spending months filming two television shows. Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer recently called out Ochocinco for not being present for any of the team's voluntary workouts. "I don't have to talk to Carson. What Carson said, it's nothing negative. He just wanted me here. That's all, and he didn't say it in a bad way," Ochocinco said. "Because I haven't been here the past four years. So this year was no different. Carson and I are always on a great page, and the numbers show year after year when I'm with him, whether I'm here or not."

Palmer Irked By Ochocinco's Absence

Sep 27, 2014 1:39 AM

Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer isn't happy that wide receiver Chad Ochocinco hasn't attended the team's workouts. "It would be great to have our No. 1 receiver here and working with him and building it around him," Palmer said. "We've tried moving guys around. Maybe they're trying to find a new No. 1 receiver (out of the group here) because it's hard to work your offense in without that guy around. We've moved Antonio (Bryant) around, he's been playing some spots. It's hard to tell and say because we're looking for a No. 2 and 3 receiver without a No. 1."
