Joshua Dobbs 'Prepared' To Start For Cardinals In Week 1

Aug 31, 2023 6:49 AM

Joshua Dobbs says he was "excited" to learn he'd been traded to the Arizona Cardinals from the Cleveland Browns last week.

Dobbs said he was "definitely" close to joining the Cardinals as a free agent but said his familiarity with the Browns, with whom he played most of the 2022 season, led him to return.

Even though Jonathan Gannon declined to name a starting quarterback for the season opener, Dobbs said he has put the expectations of being a starter on himself.

Kyler Murray will open the season on the physically unable to perform list and miss at least the first four games.

"I know the QB situation's gonna play out however the coaches see fit," Dobbs said of the team's decision between him and fifth-round rookie Clayton Tune. "But, for me, I come in ready to compete every single day. I push myself, but also approach the room in that way, and so I'm excited to be a part of it and be a part of the team."

Aug 25, 2023 6:56 AM

The Arizona Cardinals have acquired quarterback Joshua Dobbs and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick in 2024, according to a report.

Dobbs spent time with the Browns last season, during which he became familiar with Arizona offensive coordinator Drew Petzing as Petzing was on Cleveland's staff last year.

The Cardinals opened Thursday with fifth-round pick Clayton Tune, David Blough, and Jeff Driskel behind Colt McCoy on the roster at quarterback.

Isaiah Simmons: I Feel More Like Myself At Safety

Aug 10, 2023 8:29 AM

Isaiah Simmons is heading into the final year of his contract after the Arizona Cardinals didn't pick up their team option on the 2020 first-round pick for the 2024 season.

After seeing time as a linebacker and nickelback over the last three seasons, Simmons has been playing a deeper safety position during training camp and he said this week that he feels he is in the best spot to show off his abilities.

"There were just certain circumstances that led to me playing certain positions last year as opposed to maybe doing what was best for me. Now doing what's best for me is actually best for the team, so I think now why it looks like I feel a little more free, more like myself in my game," Simmons said.
