Demeco Ryans had four head coaching interviews scheduled for Saturday, but canceled two of them to spend the remainder of the day preparing for the San Francisco 49ers to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Ryans interviewed with the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans, then canceled scheduled interviews with the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.

Ryans is considered one of the top candidates on the market due to his work as defensive coordinator of the 49ers. 

The Arizona Cardinals named Monti Ossenfort, the former director of player personnel with the Tennessee Titans, as their general manager on Monday.

Ossenfort interviewed Friday with a panel of Cardinals executives, including owner Michael Bidwill, after an initial phone conversation with Bidwill days earlier.

Ossenfort, 44, brings 21 years of experience to Arizona. He was with the Titans for the past three years and the New England Patriots for the 15 years before that.

The Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans have received permission to interview Sean Payton for their head coaching vacancy.

Payton stepped away from the New Orleans Saints after the 2022 season and they still retain his rights, which would necessitate compensation should he take another job.

The Denver Broncos are also interested in Payton.

The Arizona Cardinals are firing Kliff Kingsbury, according to a report.

Kingsbury signed a contract extension through the 2027 season less than a year ago.
