Jonathan Dwyer has been formally charged with assaulting his wife in two arguments in July at their Phoenix apartment.

An indictment publicly released late Friday charges Dwyer with felony aggravated assault and eight misdemeanors.

Dwyer allegedly broke his wife's nose during a July 21 argument and engaged in a dispute the following day in which he punched his wife and threw a shoe at his 17-month-old son, who wasn't injured.

Stanton: My Stats Stink And I Don't Care

Oct 21, 2014 5:05 PM

In two games, Drew Stanton is 32 of 62 (51.6%), with two touchdowns and no picks, a rating of 83.5.

More importantly, the Arizona Cardinals have won both games as they defeated the New York Giants on the road in Week 2 and the San Francisco 49ers at home in Week 3.

Stanton is yet another quarterback that Bruce Arians has seemingly gotten the most out of under his tutulage.

“My stats stink, and I don’t care," said Stanton. "Stats mean nothing to me—wins do. I love Bruce’s offensive philosophy. He wants to push the ball downfield. That fits me. The numbers aren’t going to be great. But when you’re around this league long enough as a backup, this is the life you have. You never know when the chance is going to come, and you’ve just got to be ready to play well when it’s your time.”

Jonathan Dwyer Head-Butted, Punched Wife

Oct 21, 2014 5:05 PM

Jonathan Dwyer head-butted his wife and broke her nose after she refused his sexual advances, and punched her in the face the next day, police said Thursday.

The details surfaced Thursday in a law enforcement report a day after Dwyer was arrested on aggravated assault charges and deactivated from all team activities after he was taken into custody at the Cardinals' practice facility and headquarters in Tempe. He spent a night in jail and made a brief court appearance before being released on bail early Thursday.

Dwyer was arrested Wednesday for investigation in two altercations that occurred on July 21 and 22 at his Phoenix residence, just days before the Cardinals reported to training camp. His wife left the state after the incidents but came forward a week ago after Dwyer apparently sent suicidal text messages including a photo of a knife.

In the first encounter, police say Dwyer attempted to kiss and undress his wife, but she refused. Someone who heard the argument reported the assault to police, who showed up at the apartment but did not make an arrest. Dwyer hid in a bathroom and the wife denied he was in the home because he threatened to kill himself in front of her and their child if she told police about the assault, police said.

The next day, Dwyer punched his wife with a closed fist on the left side of her face, according to police. He also punched walls and threw a shoe at his 17-month-old son, who was not injured, police said.

John Abraham Leaves Cardinals, Suffering Memory Loss

Sep 12, 2014 7:24 PM

John Abraham has taken a leave of absence from the Arizona Cardinals after leaving their Week 1 win with a concussion.

It was the first reported concussion of Abraham's 15-year career, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Abraham is suffering from severe memory loss and has been for well more than a year, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Abraham believes he needs to take time to get well, Schefter reported.

"We mentioned the concussion but it was nothing as much as not being accountable to his teammates and having the full desire to play," Arians said. "I did not see the evidence of that. In his play, I thought he played his tail off."

Andre Ellington Could Miss 'Extended Time' With Foot Injury

Nov 12, 2014 10:24 AM

Andre Ellington could miss an "extended period of time" with a foot injury.

The first prognosis is that it is a muscle injury and not structural though the Arizona Cardinals are waiting MRI results and he'll see a foot specialist.
