Arians: Cardinals Need Bigger Running Back

Nov 30, 2014 12:05 PM

Bruce Arians has acknowledged that the Arizona Cardinals need a bigger running back.

After a failed waiver claim on Ben Tate, the Cardinals elected to turn to Michael Bush instead, working him out and signing him to a deal on Tuesday.

“We really miss (Jonathan Dwyer),” Arians said in an interview with Alex Marvez and Takeo Spikes on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “I like our backs but we need a guy who’s going to pound it in there and close out some games in short yardage and goal line situations. Michael is in great shape.”

Carson Palmer Tears ACL

Nov 11, 2014 11:14 AM

Carson Palmer suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the Arizona Cardinals' Week 10 victory.

"We don't know anything about Carson's injury or the length or whatever it is yet," Arians said. "It is obviously a knee, but he will be evaluated and get an MRI and everything, and we'll know something more hopefully by Tuesday."

Steve Keim said during his weekly Monday morning appearance on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM that Palmer will "go through a number of tests" Monday morning.

"We should have some more information at a later time today," Keim said.

Palmer was injured on a sack by Rams safety Mark Barron with about 11:21 left in the fourth quarter Sunday, just two days after he signed a three-year contract extension worth a reported $50 million, including $20.5 million guaranteed.

Bidwill: Arians, Keim 'Sort Of The Same Kind Of Guy'

Nov 17, 2014 5:09 PM

Michael Bidwill and the Arizona Cardinals have seemingly nailed two critical decisions of the 2013 offseason when they hired Steve Keim as general manager and then Bruce Arians as head coach.

“We’ve been fortunate,’’ said Bidwill on Sunday night. “Bruce and Steve are sort of the same kind of guy. They’re football guys. I like the fact they never panic. They’re confident in their ability to get the job done even if they have adversity.”

The Cardinals nearly reached the playoffs in 2013 and have a two-game lead in the NFC West.
