Daryl Washington Receives One-Year Suspension

Dec 4, 2014 4:37 AM

Daryl Washington has received a one-year suspension by the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim, not sounding very happy in a statement, called the violation "completely unacceptable."

"It's completely unacceptable that Daryl has once again put us in this position," Keim said. "We all know what the consequences are and will deal with them. From a personal standpoint, our hope is that this suspension will give Daryl the opportunity to accept the necessary help and guidance to get his life back on track and we will certainly support him however we can.

“As it pertains to our team, our approach is the same as it's always been: next man up. We talk a lot about how critical depth is to a team because situations always arise where you lose players, whether by injury or other circumstances such as this one. One player's absence is another's opportunity. That approach has served us well in the past and we will rely on it now."

Patrick Peterson Believes He's Worth More Than Sherman

Sep 3, 2014 7:56 PM

Patrick Peterson and the Arizona Cardinals are in the early stages of negotiating a contract extension.

Peterson said he believes he's worth more than fellow cornerback Richard Sherman.

The three-time Pro Bowler said he and Sherman are in different stages of their contracts, which means Peterson's camp has more time to negotiate. Sherman had a year left on his rookie deal when Seattle re-signed him to a four-year, $57 million extension with $40 million guaranteed last week, while Peterson has two years remaining after Arizona exercised a team option for 2015.

Peterson said he "kind of" had a smile on his face when he saw the terms of Sherman's deal.

"I'm making OK money right now, but I'm just not making his money right now," Peterson said with a laugh.

Peterson will make $2.88 million in 2014 and $10 million in 2015.

Blake Bortles Could Have Slid To Cardinals At No. 20

Oct 15, 2014 2:51 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars' decision to select Blake Bortles with the third overall pick was the biggest surprise of the first round.

Bortles likely wouldn't have been selected by the Minnesota Vikings at No. 8 or Tennessee Titans at No. 11. The Dallas Cowboys would have discussed Bortles with the 16th pick, but he could have easily fallen all the way to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 20.

At the very least the Jaguars could have traded down with the Buffalo Bills.

Buccaneers Interested In Trading Mike Glennon For 2nd Round Pick

May 14, 2014 6:16 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are interested in trading away Mike Glennon for a second round pick.

Glennon finished the 2013 season as the Buccaneers' starting quarterback, but the club signed Josh McCown in the offseason to start in 2014.

Lovie Smith did say that Glennon would have a chance to compete with McCown before the season.

The Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots and Chicago Bears are potential landing spots for Mike Glennon.
