Redskins Make A Pair Of Trades With Rams
The Redskins announced today that they have made a pair of trades with the Rams.
Washington traded tight end/fullback Dennis Morris to St. Louis for a conditional undisclosed selection.
The Redskins also traded a conditional undisclosed selection to the Rams for linebacker Hall Davis. Davis was originally selected by the Rams in the fifth round (149 overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Malcolm Kelly Pulls Hamstring Again
Redskins wide receiver Malcolm Kelly pulled his left hamstring again Monday, a major setback in his bid to make the opening day roster.
Kelly reinjured the hamstring in his first full practice since the early days of training camp.
"I don't know the extent of it," coach Mike Shanahan said, "but I know it's not good."
He has been ruled out for Thursday's preseason finale.
Shanahan, Haynesworth End Feud
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and defender Albert Haynesworth appear to have mended their relationship.
Haynesworth essentially said earlier this month that his medical condition had been underplayed by the coach in order to make the Redskins look good and Haynesworth look bad.
"I think everybody would like to be liked, that's part of being a head football coach," Shanahan said.
"But you want to be respected as well. I've got a job to do, and Albert's got a job to do, and his job is to be the best football player he can possibly be, and it's my job to see to it."
Haynesworth finally played nice after Friday night's game against the Jets, joking that he was heading to Shanahan's house for dinner and a cigar.
Shanahan's comeback on Sunday: "Well, he made me buy the drinks and the cigars."
McNabb May Not Be Ready For Opener
The Redskins don't know if quarterback Donovan McNabb will be ready to play in their season opener.
"I really don't know for sure," Shanahan said Sunday. "That's why it's day by day. We'll see how it goes."
Washington will face Dallas in Week 1 of the regular season.
McNabb hasn't practiced since spraining his left ankle in the second preseason game against Baltimore.
Shanahan said the leg is too sore for McNabb to play Thursday against the Cardinals.
McNabb Pokes Fun At Haynesworth
Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb poked fun at defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth on Wednesday.
McNabb twice mimicked Haynesworth while talking about the sprained left ankle that will keep him out of Friday's game against the New York Jets.
"They told me it was just a 'sprain," said McNabb, slowing down to use air quotes.
Haynesworth, while making critical remarks of coach Mike Shanahan, used air quotes Saturday to describe the "headaches" he had supposedly been having a few days earlier.
"I want to make sure I do the 'right things' to get myself healthy," said McNabb, using the air quotes again.
Shanahan Says Squabble With Haynesworth Is 'Ridiculous'
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan plans to keep his back-and-forth with defender Albert Haynesworth private.
Shanahan met with Haynesworth privately on Monday, saying it's "completely ridiculous" to keep talking about it publicly.
"If you guys want to talk about football, we'll talk about football," Shanahan said. "But to keep on talking about things outside of football to me is completely ridiculous. I did have a conversation with him. If you want to talk about football, we'll talk about football."
Haynesworth called out Shanahan publicly over the weekend for downplaying a muscle condition that has kept him off the field.
McNabb Watches Practice In Walking Boot
Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb watched his teammates practice on Monday wearing a walking boot on his injured ankle.
Washington coach Mike Shanahan said he wasn't sure when McNabb will resume practice or whether the quarterback will play against the Jets.
"We'll just get as much treatment as we can and get him as ready as quick as we can," Shanahan said.
McNabb injured his lower left leg in Washington's preseason game against Baltimore on Saturday.
Haynesworth's Health Is Still An Issue
The Washington Post is reporting that Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has rhabdomyolysis.
The report comes one day after Haynesworth accused coach Mike Shanahan of underplaying his medical condition.
The condition, which sidelined Haynesworth in practice last week, causes the rapid breakdown of skeletal muscle due to injury to muscle tissue, according to three sources.
A Redskins official told ESPN that the team is unaware that Haynesworth has this condition.
Haynesworth Rips Shanahan
Albert Haynesworth took his most defiant stand yet against Mike Shanahan on Saturday night, saying the Redskins coach underplayed the All-Pro?s medical condition in recent days and that he intends to boycott next year?s offseason conditioning program as well.
Speaking after the Redskins? loss to the Ravens, Haynesworth also said that he shouldn?t have been playing in the third quarter, when only backups were in the game.
Redskins Place Furrey On IR

The decision rules Furrey out for the 2010 season.
