Noble Put On IR, Out For Season

Oct 18, 2014 10:11 PM

The Washington Redskins put defensive tackle on injured reserve Thursday due to cartilage problems and a bone bruise. The move makes him ineligible to play for Washington again this season. "The guy has become like part of your family," defensive coordinator Greg Blache said, "and you have an emotional attachment that's hard to explain to people on the outside. But we had to make a decision that was good for him and good for the team, too. It was one of those things where in my heart I wanted to wait and wait, but my brain told me that wasn't the best decision to make."

Ramsey Not Happy About Benching, Will Remain A Redskin

Oct 18, 2014 10:11 PM

Recently demoted Redskins quarterback Patrick Ramsey will not request a trade even though he is not happy about being a backup to recently promoted QB Mark Brunell. "Coach and I talked and what was said is between us, but I haven't specifically told him I want a trade in any way," Ramsey said. "I'm a Redskin right now, and I'm going to concentrate on Dallas this week. Gibbs confirmed that Ramsey is the No. 2 quarterback and rookie Jason Campbell remains the third-stringer. "Patrick's handled it better than you would expect somebody to handle it," he said. "I know he doesn't like it. The way he's handled it says a lot about him."

Gibbs Going With Brunell At QB

Oct 18, 2014 10:10 PM

Joe Gibbs on Monday informed starter Patrick Ramsey, who suffered a sprained neck in the second quarter of Sunday's victory over the Chicago Bears, that he will be replaced by Mark Brunell when the Redskins face the Dallas Cowboys next Monday night. The move came incredibly quick even by Gibbs standards, and followed weeks of public support for Ramsey, the team's first-round choice in the 2002 draft. "This is something that is extremely hard," Gibbs said Monday. "You don't like doing this. I don't. Sometimes you don't chart the circumstances or what happens -- it just happens. Certainly it wasn't the plan I had going in, but sometimes plans change, and I think you do the best you can in dealing with it." On Monday evening, Gibbs all but acknowledged that the switch was made for performance, and not injury reasons, by noting that he felt Ramsey was "fine" physically. "I'm looking for someone to establish himself as our quarterback," Gibbs said.

Washington Redskins quarterback Patrick Ramsey left Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears in the second quarter after a ferocious hit by linebacker Lance Briggs. Briggs came on a blitz, leaped to get past right tackle Jon Jansen and reached with his right arm to clobber Ramsey neck-high. Ramsey went down immediately and fumbled. Eagles Pick Up WR McCants

Jun 27, 2014 5:54 AM

Five days after being cut by the Washington Redskins, the Philadelphia Eagles added wide receiver Darnerien McCants as their fourth receiver. "McCants has good size and speed and has made a lot of plays with the Redskins, in particular against us," said coach Andy Reid. "We'll see what kind of role he fills once we get him acclimated to our offense."
