Hall Leaves Redskins Just Two Days After Signing

Claiming his heart was not into it, defensive back Corey Hall left the Washington Redskins just two days after signing with the team. The 28-year-old Hall was a third-round draft choice of Cincinnati in 1999 and spent four seasons with the Bengals before signing a five-year deal with Atlanta after the 2002 campaign. The Fresno State product has started 70 of 87 games during his NFL career and has compiled 352 tackles, four interceptions and one forced fumble. Hall is reportedly thinking about pursuing a coaching job with the Washington State Cougars.

McQuarters Visits Redskins, Giants Next

Free-agent cornerback R.W. McQuarters underwent a physical at Redskin Park and departed without signing, apparently to visit other teams. The seven-year veteran became available Monday when he was released by the Chicago Bears. The New York Giants are rumored to be heavily interested as well. "I think he's going to consider his options," Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said. "We had a great discussion. We had a good visit. ... We'll see what happens down the road."

Taylor Does Not Report To Redskins Practice

The only player with an unexcused absence on the Washington Redskins roster during Tuesday?s practice was safety Sean Taylor. "We have had no contact with him," coach Joe Gibbs said. Taylor is reportedly unhappy with the seven-year $18 million contract he is currently under. "I think that the day you sign a contract you have to honor that contract," Gibbs said. "That is part of the deal."

The Washington Redskins agreed to terms with linebacker Warrick Holdman yesterday. Holdman, who released by the Cleveland Browns in late February, started 14 games and collected 110 tackles for the Browns last season. "We've added a veteran guy with a lot of experience," Coach Joe Gibbs said.

Gibbs Undergoes Operation To Unclog Artery

Redskins' coach Joe Gibbs underwent an operation several weeks ago to unclog an artery to his heart. Gibbs, a 64-year-old diabetic, said the procedure ``has no effect on my work, or my tenure with the Redskins.'' He said Wednesday he had the precautionary procedure in mid-April at a Washington hospital on the advice of doctors. A small tube, known as a stent, was placed in the artery. Gibbs said he has never had a problem with his heart, and the blockage was discovered during a routine physical. ``I suffered no ill effects prior to the procedure, and have had none since,'' he said.

Bengals Acquire Tight End Dickerson

The Cincinnati Bengals added a former college teammate of current quarterback Carson Palmer on Tuesday off of waivers from the Washington Redskins. Tight End Kori Dickerson entered the league in 2002 with Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent. He has been traveling ever since, playing for Frankfurt in the NFL Europe among other teams.
