The Metro Nashville City Council approved by a 26-12 vote early Wednesday morning to issue $760 million in bonds as part of stadium funding for the Tennessee Titans.

The city bonds combine with $500 million in state bonds for more than $1.2 billion in public financing committed to the Titans' enclosed stadium.

That gives Tennessee the largest public price tag for a stadium, topping the $850 million commitment from New York for the Buffalo Bills' new $1.5 billion stadium.

The Tennessee Titans say they have not fielded trade calls on Derrick Henry.

"It is what it is," general manager Ran Carthon said Monday. "I know people have a job to do to speculate and put things out and hope that it sticks, hope that they're right."

The Titans were reportedly shopping Henry at the combine in March. Carthon called reports of the team looking to trade Henry "erroneous."

Henry finished last season with 1,538 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. He is entering the final season of a four-year, $50 million contract he signed in 2020.

In response to a tweet from Akbar Gbaja-Biamila claiming Derrick Henry was headed to the Philadelphia Eagles, A.J. Brown endorsed a reunion with his former Tennessee Titans teammate.

"Nobody has #22. Make it happen if it's possible," Brown tweeted.

There has been no indication of Henry leaving the Titans or getting traded, but the three-time Pro Bowler does have one year remaining on his contract with a base salary of $10.5 million.

The Tennessee Titans and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons have agreed in principle to a four-year contract extension worth as much as $94 million.

The deal provides long-term security for Simmons who was set to play on the fifth-year option at $10.75 million.

Simmons posted 7.5 sacks last season despite playing the last eight games with an injured ankle. 

The Tennessee Titans own the No. 11 pick in this month's NFL Draft, but Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com recently suggested they could move up.

"Can I give you the team that I have been told to keep an eye on that's exploring this and looking into this?" Jeremiah said on his podcast. "Again, this is just people around the league who said, 'Do not sleep on Numero 11.' The Tennessee Titans. The two teams to keep an eye on with the trade-ups were the [Las Vegas] Raiders and the Titans."

It's unclear if the Titans would be targeting a quarterback, but moving up to the third pick would allow them to leapfrog the Indianapolis Colts.
