Dean Pees Retires As Titans' Defensive Coordinator

Jan 21, 2020 8:41 AM

Dean Pees is retiring again from the NFL, stepping down from his post as defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans.

Pees previously had a short retirement in January 2018 when he retired as defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens only to return weeks later in the same job with the Titans.

Pees spent 10 total seasons as a defensive coordinator with the Ravens and New England Patriots.

"I talked him out of retirement once. I didn't have the heart to talk him out of it again," Mike Vrabel said.

Derrick Henry Feels He 'Could Have Done More'

Jan 20, 2020 2:35 PM

After the Tennessee Titans 35-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, Derrick Henry lamented that "he could have done more for the team."

Henry finished the game with 19 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown.

"I'll definitely shed a couple of tears," he said. "Just because I love my teammates. I love playing football, I love competing and I love my teammates. Those guys helped me get through a lot."

The Titans have an uncertain future with at least 19 players on expiring contracts this offseason.

"Throughout the whole season, you have to stick together through all the adversity," Henry said. "We have a lot of great guys in the locker room. It's football, you know the locker room is going to change. Right now, we just lost a game. I am not even thinking about no contracts or things like that. When that time comes, I am sure it will get worked out."

The Chiefs defeated the Titans by a final score of 35-24 with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 294 yards with three touchdowns and another 53 yards rushing and a touchdown. After a scoreless third quarter, the Chiefs scored two unanswered touchdowns to open the fourth quarter and put the game away.

In the NFC Championship, the 49ers used a dominant running game to defeat the Green Bay Packers by a final score of 37-20. Raheem Mostert had 220 yards on 29 carries and four touchdowns.

The 49ers had a 27-0 lead heading into halftime and it took a pair of Green Bay touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the final score closer than the game felt.
