Former NFL WR Mike Williams On Life Support After Accident

Sep 7, 2023 9:02 AM

Former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams, who had 65 catches for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010, is on life support after suffering serious injuries while working at a construction site.

Williams, 36, had been working in Hillsborough County (Florida) when he was injured last week.

He was mostly non-responsive when visited Wednesday afternoon, and while the plan is reportedly for Williams to be removed from life support in the ICU, that has yet to occur.

Buffalo's Spectrum News 1 erroneously reported Tuesday night that Williams had already died as a result of the injuries.

Mike Evans Likely To Move On From Buccaneers After Season

Sep 1, 2023 8:37 AM

Mike Evans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached an impasse in talks on a new contract.

Evans will enter "what likely will be his final season" with the team that drafted him in 2014, according to a report.

The wide receiver is believed to be targeting a deal similar to the one Cooper Kupp received from the Los Angeles Rams. Kupp signed a three-year, $80.1 million deal in 2022.

Evans currently is playing under a contract that pays an average amount of $16.5 million.

He has a cap number of $23.698 million for 2023, and the Buccaneers will take a dead-money charge of $12.198 million in 2024.
