Tom Brady Makes It Clear He's Not Ready To Discuss Future

Jan 24, 2023 8:48 AM

Tom Brady isn't ready to discuss his playing future.

Brady, 45, was asked on SiriusXM's "Let's Go!" podcast by Jim Gray whether he had any type of timetable for making a decision.

"Jim, if I knew what I was going to (expletive) do, I would've already (expletive) done it. I'm taking it a day at a time," Brady responded.

"I sense you're antagonized by the question," Gray responded.

"You're scratchy. You're scratchy," Brady retorted. "I appreciate you asking. Thank you."

Brady just finished the final year of his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Buccaneers Fire Byron Leftwich As Offensive Coordinator

Jan 19, 2023 10:31 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired Byron Leftwich as offensive coordinator.

The Buccaneers won the NFC South with an 8-9 record, but largely regressed in 2022. Leftwich was considered one of the top head coaching candidates just one year ago.

Tom Brady will be a free agent this offseason, further complicating Tampa Bay's outlook on offense.

Tom Brady: 'One Day At A Time' With Future Uncertain

Jan 17, 2023 8:50 AM

Tom Brady was noncommittal about his future after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 31-14 to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

It was just the third time in his 23-year career that he lost in the opening round of the postseason.

"Not the way we wanted to end it, but we didn't deserve it," Brady said. "I give them a lot of credit. They played a good game. Made a lot more plays than we did, so a tough night.

"I think there's a part of football where I feel like it's -- sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time, the team that earns it wins, and they played [well] all year."

With his contract set to expire and a "no tag" clause, Brady cannot be franchise-tagged and will become an unrestricted free agent at age 45.

"I'm gonna go home and get a good night's sleep -- as good as I can tonight," Brady said, adding that he has no timetable for making a decision. "This has been all I've focused on -- this game. It'll just be one day at a time. Truly."

Byron Leftwich: Demise Of Buccaneers Offense Greatly Exaggerated

Jan 6, 2023 9:15 AM

Byron Leftwich isn't buying into talk of the offensive demise of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers put up 30 points against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17, but at 8-8 they have narrowly squeaked into the postseason.

"I think there's been moments where we really haven't been that bad," Leftwich, the team's offensive coordinator, said.

"I think you guys overexaggerated because we look different. The numbers say that we're not that far off. We're off on third down and red zone. It's disappointing, those two things for us as a team with who we have. But when you really listen to people talk about us, that's emotions talking. That's not really people watching us, watching us get better every week. For some reason, everybody want to throw dirt on the Bucs. But we're not ready for people to throw dirt on us."

Tampa Bay's scoring dropped from 29.29 offensive points per game in 2021 -- first in the league -- to 18.06 in 2022, 23rd in the league.
