Buccaneers Hold Group Workouts Despite Positive COVID-19 Tests

Jun 23, 2020 2:14 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to hold group workouts at a local high school despite having two players and an assistant coach diagnosed with COVID-19.

Tom Brady was seen practicing Tuesday with Rob Gronkowski, Chris Godwin, Scotty Miller, Jamel Dean, Sean Murphy-Bunting, Mike Edwards, Blaine Gabbert, Ryan Griffin and Ryan Jensen.

NFLPA Medical Director, Dr. Thom Mayer said Saturday that players should not "be engaged in practicing together in private workouts."

"Please be advised that it is our consensus medical opinion that in light of the increase in COVID-19 cases in certain states that no players should be engaged in practicing together in private workouts," Mayer said. "Our goal is to have all players and your families as healthy as possible in the coming months.

"We are working on the best mitigation procedures at team facilities for both training camps and the upcoming season, and believe that this is in the best interest of all players that we advise against any voluntary joint practices before training camp commences."

Buccaneers Could Keep Third Quarterback Quarantined

Jun 10, 2020 1:59 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have a third quarterback on the roster, but keep hi away from the rest of the team in case there a COVID-19 infection.

“Yeah, that’s one of the things I’ve been pondering the last two or three weeks as we set the protocols,” Bruce Arians said. “From what I’m understanding is if you test positive, you get quarantined for two weeks. Now, if you have no symptoms, I don’t know what that means. Is it a false one? There’s so much to learn and still explore with this thing, but I’ve thought about keeping the third quarterback on the roster out of the room. We have two guys that have been in our system, really sharp. So, I might have to quarantine a quarterback just in case of a quarantine.”

Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin are Tom Brady's two backups and both are familiar with the offense after spending last season with Tampa Bay.

Devonta Freeman Tells Buccaneers To Reach Out Directly

Jun 5, 2020 9:28 AM

Bruce Arians says the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be interested in signing Devonta Freeman, but the price is too high.

Freeman is a free agent and the Buccaneers have about $4.87 million in salary cap space. He insists he wants to play, but might have to lower his asking price to find a landing spot at this point in 2020.

"I read in the media that Tampa Bay Buccaneers are interested. A number of teams are interested, but we can’t negotiate through the media, the Buccaneers can reach out to me directly," Freeman wrote on Twitter.
