Seahawks Decided Not To Pursue Antonio Brown After Due Diligence

Oct 29, 2020 11:22 AM

The Seattle Seahawks decided not to pursue Antonio Brown after performing their due diligence on him.

Brown had contentious exits from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders. Brown also was suspended eight games for multiple Personal Conduct Policy violations. He faces further potential discipline for a pending civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault, based on the evidence developed.

The Seahawks may have acknowledged interest in Brown simply to placate Russell Wilson, who had pushed for them to sign him.

Bruce Arians: Antonio Brown 'Looked Fantastic' During First Workout

Oct 29, 2020 8:36 AM

Bruce Arians praised Antonio Brown during his first workout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday.

"He looks fantastic. I think we had really good conversations today, he and I," Arians said. "He was in the meetings and everything. And he's working with Anthony Piroli and the strength staff. He looks in great shape. Yeah, ready to go next week."

Brown is in the final week of his eight-game suspension for multiple violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy. He was only allowed to work out with the strength and conditioning staff and attend meetings.

"It went real well. He and I had a good conversation this morning," Arians said. "He'll be ready to go next week and in good shape."

Bruce Arians Believes Antonio Brown Has 'Matured'

Oct 26, 2020 8:57 AM

Bruce Arians believes Antonio Brown, who is currently serving an eight-game suspension due to multiple violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy, has "matured."

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently signed Brown to a one-year deal despite saying in March that Brown "was not a fit" for the team.

"I think he's matured, and I believe in second chances," Arians said. "Everybody wants to say that Tom [Brady] picked him. Tom didn't have anything to do with it. This was something Jason and I had been talking [about] for a couple weeks, ever since the injuries to our other guys. When the time was right, would we see if we could pull the trigger and fit him in to what we want to get done? And we'll see. If Antonio does what I think he's gonna do, I think he's gonna be fine."

Brown has been accused by two women in the past year of sexual misconduct, including one who said Brown sent her threatening text messages.

Antonio Brown's Contract With Bucs Maxes Out At $2.5M

Oct 25, 2020 1:14 PM

Antonio Brown can make up to $2.5 million with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.

Brown's deal will contain $1 million in base salary and roster bonuses, along with $750,000 if the Buccaneers win the Super Bowl and he also has three $250,000 incentives for receptions, yards and touchdowns. For Brown's individual incentives to trigger, the Buccaneers must also make the playoffs.

Brown still has to pass COVID-19 protocols before he can join the team but is likely to make his Buccaneers debut in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 8.

The deal reunites Brown with quarterback Tom Brady and could help a team that has been banged up at wide receiver.

Bruce Arians, Tom Brady Say He Knew It Was Fourth Down

Oct 9, 2020 8:48 AM

It appeared on Thursday night's broadcast that Tom Brady lost track of the downs on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' final drive against the Chicago Bears.

After Brady threw an incomplete pass to Cameron Brate on fourth down in the final moments, the quarterback remained on the field and was seen putting up four fingers to the officials and sideline, which many assumed to mean he thought Tampa Bay had one more down.

"I knew we needed a chunk and I was thinking about more yardage and then, you know, it was just, it was bad execution. We had a great opportunity there. So just didn’t execute when we needed do," Brady said when asked if he knew it was fourth down.

"We just... you're up against the clock and I knew we had to gain a chunk so I should have been thinking more first down instead of chunk on that down."

Arians also said that Brady was aware of what down it was.

“Yeah, he knew. He knew," Arians said.
