The Buccaneers, who entered the day with the 19th pick, traded up to the 17th to grab Kansas St. quarterback Josh Freeman. Tampa Bay got the 17th pick from Cleveland, who took the 19th pick in return. The Browns then sent the 19th pick to the Eagles for the 21st pick and a sixth-round selection.

The signing of Bryon Leftwich means that the Buccaneers will likely part ways with either veteran Brian Griese or the young Josh Johnson. Johnson, 22, is said to have upside, which could keep Tampa Bay from taking him out of the equation. Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik has said the plan is to take four quarterbacks to training camp, but only three are expected to make it all the way through camp.
