Simms has been asking for his release for quite some time, claiming that personal issues between himself and coach Jon Gruden have kept him from taking the field.

Williams suffered a career-threatening knee injury on Sept. 30, 2007, against Carolina, tearing his patellar tendon after sprinting up the field.
"He's ready to go now, if you ask him," Gruden said. "He's really putting some good tape together in his individual workouts ... the explosive movement appears to be coming back. Change of direction, confidence, stamina, all those things day after day after day a running back has to do are coming to him. That's what's really exciting."

But the relationship between me and Coach Gruden -- it's broken. It just is. And I don't see any way it's going to get better again."
According to the report, Simms has asked the Bucs for a trade or his release.
"I feel like I'm being held hostage," Simms said, according to the St. Petersburg Times. "I hate that all this has happened. I love Tampa. My family loves it here. But I've been quiet long enough. I feel like it's time to let everybody know why I'm not out there."

Garcia: I Might Retire
Jeff Garcia told Sirius Satellite Radio on Wednesday that he is unhappy with the Buccaneers' treatment of him and he could walk away from the game.
?That?s a frustration,? Garcia said. ?If it doesn?t work itself out, if a contract is not presented as far as a renewal to finish my career, then I will seriously think about what my alternate options may be. And it may come to not playing football anymore.
?I feel like when you mistreat people there comes a time when it doesn?t matter how much you are paid, it?s going to lead to some drastic decisions.?
